Way too early to be decrying the form of others. If we keep doing what we're doing I believe we can finish top six and maybe top four, however, other teams will find form too. I just await the wave of negativity if we don't win one of the next three games.
The way im trying to look at it.anything better than last year is an improvement, anything ontop of that is a bonus .we can still dream of top 4 tho .what a season that would be.just hope people dont get to down WHEN we lose
It won't happen tho. If we have a few bad reaults I can see this place having a mini meltdown. Which will quite frankly be embarrasing.
Seems to me that the people currently planning trips to Munich and Madrid are in many cases the same people who were only recently threatening to burn their season tickets and sever all links with the club. Best, I think, to treat the twin imposters - triumph and disaster - both the same, ie. with the scepticism they each deserve. It's great being second, but anyone who thinks we have the second (or 3rd, or 4th) best squad in the league is deluded.
I know that there are teams with better squads than us, but it is still possible to finish higher or lower than people might predict on paper. Top 4 squad...perhaps not. Top 4 team...probably.
Was disappointed we didn't put on a better show against Man City, but was not expecting a win. To me, Man City has always been a cut above the rest bar Chelsea. As I've said before, I think the key to this season is really that aside from those two teams no one else really looks that strong. So it's less "Saints will finish top 4" and more "Why can't Saints finish top 4?" The pundits have been saying Saints will likely drop out once the "big clubs" get going.... but then right after that they say that Man U, Liverpool or Arsenal will be lucky to finish top 4 themselves. So exactly who is going to finish top 4? No one knows, but someone has to do it. So to me Saints are one of 5-6 teams that have a decent chance for the last two slots. And the team that grabs the spot will have to scrap for it and just try to stay .500 against the others and beat the remaining teams. In that respect, the draw prior to this was more worrisome than this one. Still, it must be said that we all knew this was likely going to be a defining stretch of games and so far it hasn't started well at all. I wouldn't define it as a bubble bursting since no one thought Saints were top 4 in the first place, but I guess I couldn't argue with someone who said that it looks like Saints might have been exposed. I hope that's not the case, but they could be right. We will have to wait and see.
How many weeks have you been waiting under that rock, Glenda? I bet you'll be cheering for us on Wednesday against The Arse.....
From what I was able to see of anything yesterday, it was the difference between one side who put away most of their chances and another who didn't, and then exposed themselves at the back while chasing the game. One may be able to do that against a few teams in this league, but not against teams like Many City in the new found form they are in. A ManC of a month ago would have lost to Saints. Quite a bit depends on the timing that teams meet. It's also ridiculous to say a team is going to fail after one lost match. But I shall be viewing a full replay this evening if I can to see where the obvious signs of failure are.
I am not panicking after one game and anyway we have lots of lovely plump points on the board, but it has been evident over a few games that we are not lethal enough...but luckily against most teams in the league we are good enough to beat them when subpar. We need to get back to our best if we are to pick off the bigger sides.
Correct. I'll give you that. My worry is, though, that Saints are going to do a Blackpool, and spiral down to the pits of utter despair. I hope I am wrong, as I have always had a soft spot for Saints. You are a very important feeder club for us.
