Just browsing the BBC sports pages and in the section about Saturdays games they have listed Hull v Man City, not Hull City v Man City. Why write one with City and not the other, its our official league name and we are the home team also ( not that that should make a difference) but if you have to leave out one City then it should be them. Seems the BBC are hedging there bets.
Sorry but you're barking up the wrong tree. If you went back to to our last Premier League stint I'm sure the fixture listing and result from this game would be Hull vs Man City, so it's nothing to do with name change.
They always call us Hull, they always did, most tables and sites do, other than Soccer AM, who call us City Hull for some reason.
I don't know anyone who watches it(unless there's a City player on), but it does still figure in the top twenty Sky Sports programs, with about 300,000 viewers.
With you on that, brother. It sums up in one handy programme EVERYTHING that is wrong with modern football. Well Im saying that, I havent seen it for about 5 years so it might have changed dramatically. I seriously doubt it though...
Another paranoid we are Hull everyone is against us post when all they are doing is what they do with every club from a city with only one team. Do you think the Geordies get all upset when it is shown as Newcastle v Manchester United?
So what ? We are only shown as Hull on most PL tables and fixtures lists. Tottenham are also called Spurs on many. Dont see a problem at all. As for soccer am it went down the tubes yonks ago when Tim Lovejoy left. Getting cut to only 2 hours from 3 years back says it all. I can just about suffer the best bits show as it lasts less than an hour.
I know a few people who don't like football but for some reason love it in the same way they love Essex, Celebrity Juice, etc.
a few seasons back there was a huge advert near the Stade de Gerland which read L'OL vs Manchester I'll translate: L'OL is local parlence for L'Olympique Lyonnais I pointed out that there were two teams in Manchester but the info was brushed off with a gallic shrug. aka all depends on success and coverage
Good post. It's City v Manchester in some parts of the country. Or if you must City v Hunter if we must make them more up to date. I often wondered why simpering pundits call Birmingham by the name 'Blues ' (not even 'the Blues'). Given that most of the country is either the Blues or the Reds, it's not a very helpful nickname. Might I suggest that Man Utd change their name to 'Man'- it's already in use in the top corner of the screen during live games.
City v Manchester. LOL. As they would say on another forum, LINK? Leeds, Newcastle, Blackburn, Bolton, Leicester and others only have the first part of their name shown. Why City fans get so upset about it or consider it some sort of conspiracy against or insult to the club is a mystery.
