Is it just me or is the build up show for quali and the race getting increasingly boring. I think it would be better that for quali they have a 15 mins build up and extra time after quali to discuss it more, and for the race have a 30/45 min build up. One more thing, I hope they revert back to the old forum style where Coulthard, Jordan and Brundle were all together around a TV in a motorhome, rather than Brundle by himself in a shed.
I've been making both of these points all season. The annoying thing is, they have a ridiculously long and tedious build up to quali, and then they only have about 15 mins analysis afterwards, sometimes they don't even show the press conference.
Yeah I agree, although the F1 Forum has placated me on post-race coverage. Of course, we don't have to watch the build-up. Not sure about Brundle's post-race analysis. At the moment I'm not enjoying his contribution as much as having him with the others in a motorhome (have they even been in a mototrhome so far this season?) but I'll see how it goes.
I'm amusing myself by remembering Webber last year trying to get the marsal to chock his wheels with the extinguisher
Yes, I'm inclined to agree with Mr Tambourine Man and A. Glorious here. Cutting the press conference is inexcusably disproportionate to the extended build-up. Cut 15 - or even just 10 minutes - to build-up and add it to the end.
It was a bit flat. What happened to them sitting in someone's motorhome and getting exclusive longer/more relaxed interviews?
I agree, last years format was much better. The sticking Brundle in a shed and just chatting in the pits is not really working.
Yes. It is a shame that the logistics for Brundle joining in on Red Button coverage are compromised by him being tucked away elsewhere, but there is no alternative if they want to analyse TV footage, which is also useful. I also agree with Genji that it was a bit flat and is the reason I did not give the coverage 10/10 this time around.
But last year they looked at tv coverage as well, they just all sat around a tv in a motorhome which was much better.
I'm with you on this Tambo. I'm trying to find an excuse for Brundle being unable to join them as before, when of course the alien would be tidying up in the commentary box, which allowed Brundle to escape. But now it is Coulthard 'escaping' to the forum - although that word was far more apt when used in the context of Legard…
Have I missed any comment / criticism on the poor coverage from the local Turkey TV production? How many times did they cut just as an obvious overtaking move was on the cards? Did I miss wide shot pictures of the massed stands of fans - or was that because there weren't any (full stands)? Was this a really poorly supported event - it seemed pretty empty most of the circuit.
Yes, I agree. This seemed to happen quite often. Of course the pictures we are shown are nothing to do with the BBC or their production team (the exception being the British Grand Prix where they are heavily involved). But I think we should also acknowledge that Brundle and Coulthard found it difficult to keep up at times [one wonders how on earth Legard would have (not) coped ] and that it must have been similarly difficult for the Director (of pictures) to keep up. After all, there was a lot of action to try to keep up with!
Reckon Legard would of just repeated himself over and over: Vettel to webber to Alonso to Lewis to Nico to Jenson..........2 minutes later: from vettel to webber to alonso...... Just imagine if Murray Walker was still doing it, probably would of had a heart attack or something lol.
He'd have done his normal thing and kept us updated with the really important stuff: "track temperature (x), air temperature (x)". And when overwhelmed by overtakes would probably have shouted at Martin: "A CAR'S A CAR" or "what's the difference Ted Whatword?" What a plook that guy was.
More F1 Forum rubbishness. They might as well pack it in now. It's pointless. Tweet @jakehumphreyf1 - tell him his show sucks.
OK - we got an in-depth, relaxed interview with Vettel. We got Brundle joining the team for some comment. We got Mark Blundell for a moment - poss. the first F1 steward on the F1 Forum. No motorhome, but that was pretty good in the end.
