How many gardening shows are on BBC TV?

How many cookery shows are on BBC TV?

How many antique shows are on BBC TV?

How many repeats do we get on BBC TV?

It's time we all stopped paying license money to the Beeb for the rubbish they shove down our throats. They should only get paid by the people that watch said shows.

To be fair Agent Bruce they do a lot of good - their nature documentaries are top notch and anyone else (including channel 4) wouldn't be able to do it as well.
And their In New Music we trust is good - know a few people who have been signed/discovered through that and now DJ/play around the country & Europe.
Not many people outside of the industry will know this but they also have a lot to answer for behind the scenes in the entertainment industry, their handbooks for training employees are the standard for everything from sound engineers to broadcasting producers around the world.
If we didn't have the beeb a lot of tv would go downhill IMO & there'd be no free news online (that's why Murdoch/Tory government want rid of the BBC).
If the beeb goes, it would be the NHS next & then we'll all be up **** creek without a paddle.

They just need to trim the fat off and get rid of the crap or come up with subscription services for the less popular shows and I'm sure noone would then complain.

Typical student left wing dogma, bbc is institutionally corrupted by its total PC indoctrinated left wing luvvie agenda, its news output is heavily biased and constantly lacks balance, as for the NHS if they got rid of all the number crunches and layers of management it might actually get on with some health care.

    Typical dogma?
No I'm a university student in the Music Industry, who does a lot of volunteering work on the side - I know what I'm talking about when it comes to the entertainment industry, I'm assuming that you haven't worked in the industry or even studied in it, so you don't have a clue <ok>.
A lot of our reading list is the literature the BBC give to their employees as they have their own qualifications.
Also a great number of those who work at the other television stations, radio stations and the British film industry around the country started their training at the BBC then received employment elsewhere because their standards are really high - it's why if you can get in to the BBC you can be pretty much guarranteed work for life (I'm one of thousands trying to get a job at media city because of this reputation).
And as for biased, have you watched/read any of the other news stations/websites/newspapers? They all follow the agenda of their owners and are all biased one way or another - Sky is like bloody Fox news ffs. At least the BBC meteorologists still show pressure systems & the different fronts on their weather forecasts, can't say that for the rest of the dumbed down weather reports. Got to say though where did I mention this? I was on about the good they do, instead your close mindedness has led you to ignore all of those facts and focus on the stuff you hate about them, stop being so bitter!

Final point - you can't tell me you're right wing and living in the North East? Or have you forgotten what the last Tory govenment did to our area?

LOL I sat here setting out a response, then I thought why should I give you the history of my working life and the experience that I have had over the last 40 years, think about this you will either entrench your attitudes or you will question them and depending on your lifes experience over the next 40 years change them. As for close minded, bitter I think you should look at your statements, as a little insight I have worked in the music industry, I didn't study it though.

Look I'm definitely not trying to argue with you more a debate than anything.
I would be interested in your reply to be honest <ok>, hence why I said I'm assuming (don't know you or your life experiences) - I definitely got a little hotheaded as you seemed to ignore all the points I made and focused on your aggreivances with the BBC and the typical student leftie dogma line wound me up!
I admit I don't like the bias myself, but I'm smart enough to know (as I'm sure you are) that everything/one has their own agenda (I've even studied it and if you were interested I could bore you senseless how they use music, voice, acoustics etc to manipulate the human mind to believe their view, buy their product whatever!) and that you have to just gleam the information you want from something while ignoring the stuff you don't, hence why I said the BBC does do some good!
As said previous one out of the few friends who received airtime/tracks played on the In new Music we trust shows (Annie Mac) goes under the name ScreenDeath & has been signed up to a well established electronic/dance record label - he would never have received the exposure on another station without it.

What did you do out of interest?
I've been doing a bit of everything since I was about 14/15 - from live sound, guitar tech, drum tech, studio engineer, producer, recording engineer and so on - anything I can get I've pretty much tried to do, but probably still wont be enough to get a job so having to go diversify into another related industry!

Also like to add I'm not affiliated to any one party - think they are all as bad as each other for the common person, be it left or right, centre or whatever - don't like the Tories, don't like Labour and certainly don't like the Lib Dems (a party that can change their stance at the first whiff of power is definitely not one to be trusted). At least you know what you're getting with the other two!!

I'm definitely not close minded, I know what the faults of the BBC are, I was merely pointing out the good that they do in this country since everyone else was slagging them off, also as someone who has travelled to some remote places their world service radio station was great for finding out news when you're literally in the middle of nowhere, although hasn't that now been cut?

    Political debate...

MONSTER RAVING LOONY PARTY!!!! If there ever was a manifesto to get me interested its one that includes:

The introduction of a 99p coin to "save on change"
Traffic cops "too stupid" for normal police work to be retrained as vicars
Refusing to sign up to the euro, but inviting the rest of Europe to join the £ pound

    Genius.

I know! One way to surely improve relations! <laugh>

I think whatever government is in power should introduce a 99p coin though. Genuinely epic idea!

It would be quality, although don't their members lose membership if ever they become elected?

Got to say I hate the Euro, at least with Francs you could work out the exchange rate by dividing by about 10.
