Cuts enforced on the UK by an irresponsible Labour government!! Yes or no? It;s funny how time wipes out the memory. Banks being unregulated, not unlike the cause of the 3 day week. Lest we forget. Tory cuts, blah, blah, blah. Analyse the CAUSE of the problem before bleating. BTW, I don't earn over £100k a year and I WILL be better off. FACTS tend to work, don't you think?

    BBC budget calculator :

I entered a fictional male aged 40 earning £28,000 per annum married with 2 children and the calculator showed he will be worse off by £1561.

By simply changing his salary to £108,000 and nothing else and it showed he will be better off by £141.
It on the BBC website so you can go check it out for yourself my friend.

    And why not?

At the end of the day the only difference between the to two subjects is their annual salary. Everything else was identical.

I dont really understand your point Shefford?

Taking your slap dash approach to your research, the answer has to be 'no'. However, if you took your time and looked into the other issues, the answer would be 'yes'. Now, how about answering my question re: the cause of the problem?

Sorry to be pedantic DT but parking without paying is not a crime.

It is based on contract law and so is and always will be a civil matter.

The other factor could be how much better off you could be if you found a wallet with £200 quid in it
Or as this nation has a high majority addicted to gambling, drink and drugs … get hold of a tenner buy some tins from Tesco Xpress , a smoke from government back drug dealers and buy a lotto ticket . The weeks turn into years and before you know it its time to die

    Thank you Shefford.

I fully understand "all the issues " my friend.

However, we will always remain a million miles away from each other as to our thoughts on the true cause. <peacedove>

I just used the calculator and input the following: male aged 21 earning £100k married to someone earning £200k. Result: better of by £141. You can skew things any way you like!!!! THAT IS THE POINT!!!

Its about being better off I got a ticket the other day for parking in Sutton in a area where my £100 a year permit wasn't valid
I said write me up chief … And then was told that was the wrong attitude. I said i have parked outside the fishing tackle shop all over 5 years when i buy maggots and the daily charge is £1.50 … I would say i have got away with it for over 100 times so don't mind being caught as I am in profit with a £30 fine

He let me off because his machine was too hot in the sun.
We left with him challenging me that he would get me next time … I said good luck and **** off

It is all based upon fraud Dave................it is contract law and there is no statute in the land that states you have to contract with anyone.

Is it fair a man or woman works 60 hours a week to earn £100k , takes risks, employs others has to pay 40% tax rather than 20%. you could argue this person contributes more to the state and welfare of others and yet is penalized for doing so. Yet if he went bust he would only recieve the same benefits. My point is all systems are unfair depending on how you look at it. My fear is we have stopped becoming an inspirational society and expect things to be given rather than earnt. People say tax the high earners more. why? by definition if you earn more you pay more. I have known people not wanting to get promoted because going into a 40% tax bracket does not make the extra work worth it.

The point being that you can come up with loads of figures to justify anything. It is being reported that 13m UK households will be worse off, that is slightly under 50%, ergo 'The majority of households will be better off'!
