I do hope I'm wrong and am ready to take stick for it and will gladly do so if we win and get a lot of points

    Stoke - 0 points
    Arsenal - 0 points
    Villa - 1 point
    Everton - 1 point
    United - 0 points
    Wigan - 1 point
    City - 0 points
    Newcastle - 0 points

Is this being unrealistic/pessimistic or just having an honest opinion?

Agree-apart from Wigan which I think you will win,5 points will be sufficient to keep you clear of 18th,

I don't think any of us expect more than 4/5 points from that list.

    Stoke - 1
    Arsenal - 0
    Villa - 1
    Everton - 1
    United - 0
    Wigan - 3
    City - 0
    Newcastle - 1

Something like this has gotta be the aim and would give you a great chance for survival.

4 or less and I fear for you.

Morning Trix! Yes any more than 4/5 I'll be delighted. We have on paper a much easier run in though as we discussed yesterday. Feel confident we will be OK.

    Good morning my friend.

Have you whizzed through your fixtures on the BBC predictor?

I had you finishing on 38 which will be enough IMO but that was based on 7 points from the next 8 games.

I did the same for QPR and had them on 35 and going down resulting in me being £10 down!

I think you will go mighty close but will just about be ok.

Next couple months are about keeping our head close to the water line; even with ~5 points, we're probably not going to be too far off safety, unless Wigan go on a tear.

Would like to see us make good our early-season near-misses and pick up a result against one of the bigger sides, though, if only to demonstrate that we can do it.

That Wigan away games is MASSIVE!

I imagine you will all be in good voice up there for that one.

4 or less would be poor, 5/6/7 pretty good, 8+ great. I'd probably guess 5.

Draws will be important in this period, positive results to take confidence from, a win and three draws would be a lot better than just two wins, for example. Also taking a point of off any of those big three fixtures would be huge, particularly either Arsenal or City, as it would give us good confidence either coming into that tough run, or coming into our easier run after that.

Well we are agreed we will stay up! You can do us a favour by beating Reading today even though that doesn't help our other bet!

Reading are gone mate. Although I have a feeling they might beat us today for some reason.

I worry it's too early to condemn Reading, they look short of the necessary quality but in reality are only 6 points adrift at this point, and quality isn't always needed to win games of football.

    Hopefully they're toast, though.

I think at some point we will snatch an unlikely win from somewhere. Hopefully, today (but can't see it).

I know what you mean. But they are sooo poor. I genuinely think they will struggle to get 20 points. I can't see them attracting any decent players in January either.

Hopefully we will pull off an upset at some stage this season after going so close against the 2 Manchester teams. I'd love it to be Arsenal or City at St Mary's.

I just have a feeling that we might just nick a win today. Shawcross is out and replaced by Upson as well as Wilkinson playing out of position at left back. If Rickie can get at Upson early then we may get some joy. Here's hoping.......
