http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/dec/09/bayern-munich-bundesliga-premier-league They haven't got a clue obviously.
I'm not sure that trying to use the current European Champions who have a rich history of success & are probably the best team on the planet at present, to try & draw a comparable with Allam's desire to add Tigers to your name, is an argument that holds much water
Actually you're close there, but missing the main point. They're ALREADY a successful club. To get to the stage they, and similar teams are at, from where we are currently, is going to take more than luck and goodwill, it will take radical thinking or a Billionaire coming in and bankrolling us.
If they want any chance of success overseas, they will obviously need to change their name to Munich Hunter, I can't believe they haven't seen it yet.
How the hell did Bayern get to where they are today without first changing their name to the Munich Beerdrinkers or something like that?
Maybe we should change the name of the thread so it's something more catchy and shorter then it may appeal to a wider audience of posters to contribute?
No that would be a stupid idea, the sort of thing made up on internet forums. Changing the name slightly and attracting more foreign investment on the back of that new name, now that would be a brave and radical move. Should probably merge this tbh with the other dead horse flogging thread on the subject.
Why would they change it to Munich Hunter? If anything, it would be Munich Bavarians. No, wait, they're already called that.
Our beloved leader suggester that Manchester City should change their name to Manchester Hunter, to become more successful outside of the UK. Mental, I know.
Alright, John - Test Question: Regarding Bayern Munich - which came first - HIGH PROFILE or ON-PITCH SUCCESS?
But if we're called Hull Tigers we will compete with them! Surely all the millions of Asian fans looking to choose a European club will sit there and think "Hmmm, should i support the current European Champions or this lower-table Premier League team with Tigers in their name? I'm from Asia! Tigers are from Asia! Screw you European Champions! Come on you Tigers!"
Quite a few times I've heard of people who chose a particular team to follow when they were kids because they felt sorry for them. The team were losing six nil or something. Maybe we could tap into that feeling and call ourselves Hull City Lame Ducks or something. How about Hull City Lions With Thorns In Their Paws?
