Barry Ferguson has signed for FLEETWOOD F.C. Would have thought that he earned a small fortune in his playing career. He earned £2.5m in his EBT according to bbc Daly programme.

Now Hector has come out and said that he will go after individuals to recoup outstanding tax from EBTs. Is it possible that some of the now defunct rfc ex-players are willing to work at MacDonalds and KFC to reimburse HECTOR.?? Interesting thought.

Original nicknames were never a footballer's best feature. The general rule of thumb, stick a 'y' or an 'o' at the end of someone's name. What would you prefer....Advocatey or Advocateo?

The second one sounds like some Portugese midfielder <ok>

I thought wee Barry was a decent player.

Got away with ****ing murder in Scotland but he was a decent player. I know what Gary Twigg was asking for to come to Derry City so I wonder what he is getting at Fleetwood?

Is he washed up or is he just getting fit for a move to a bigger side?

I played in the same team as Barry Ferguson - twice

Once briefly at Calderbraes Boys Club (he wanted to be a Striker!) and again at Hamilton Colts ...

I was first choice keepet at CBC but I only trained at HC as they had soem quality players!

Also played against him when he played for the School team ... tho, I was sub on those two occasions.

Met him a few years later down in Bothwell in the bar his agent owned... nice guy.

To be fair to him I always considered him a decent player, not the shining talent that some Rangers fans thought but nevertheless a good player anyway.

Let's just hope his tax affairs are all in order before Hector visits him down in Lancs <ok>

I agree Barry Ferguson is a nice chap, if you like that type of person. In Scotland on the football field he was a thug
simply because, he was the Rangers golden boy, idolised by MSM and the referees in no particular order.
I imagine the standard of refereeing in his new league will meet with his approval.

That's my point DA. If HMRC as they said they would go after individuals it will and cannot simply be directors, but also all those who gained from not paying the tax and NI which was due. Now I accept that many of the players would NOT have entered this EBT scheme intentionally to defraud the HMRC, but intention is not an issue for HMRC, it is the recovery of tax liabilities and ultimately the individual is liable. It may be that some accountants are nervously licking dry lips in anticipation of letters from players solicitors over advice, but I suspect that the culprits are the club who offered cover letters with players as victims, but at the end of the day, the taxes will be due. Evander Holyfield and Joe Louis and MA were sportsmen badly advised, but the tax had to be paid.

I would have thought that someone of BF stature would perhaps have decided to quit the game at a reasonable level. His loan to FLEETWOOD made a national radio station news sports broadcast.

I would imagine there are some very very worried former employees of rfc.
