"Ah, one small point about prices and things, I was doing a bit of survey this afternoon and I looked up an independent report and there are 12 clubs in the Championship where it’s more expensive to go to than Leeds United." This was Bates' defence to the continued criticism about ticket prices, on Yorkshire Radio yesterday. This contradicts the survey by www.sportingintelligence.com, that at the start of the season, showed that Leeds had the highest season ticket prices not just in the Championship but more than 16 Premier League clubs including those of Manchester United. The 5th highest season ticket in England, with our cheapest a whopping £612 - the second most expensive in the Championship being Southampton with £540. Just if anyone isn't sure about how insane that is: It costs £80 more for a season ticket at Leeds than it does to watch the champions of England. So, obviously Ken wasn't talking about the ST being cheaper. Must be the match day prices then? Yes, on paper he's right. Clubs like West Ham are charging £32 cheapest adult tickets, compared with our £20. But here's the catch. There's about 2 category C games a season. So for 20/22, this magical £20 'cheaper than 12 clubs' ticket isn't available. Also taking into account the offers from these 'more expensive' clubs like West Ham have 'adult member discount games' offering 50% tickets for young adults, 'kids for a quid' games for all under 16s and 'youth academy games' where junior members get a free ticket. So our 'real' cheapest ticket is £24 in the family stand (barring in mind you have to have a £40 membership to sit here) or £26 in the North/South stands. However, there's another problem with Bates' claim - the North and South stand only account for around 12,000 seats. That leaves over 25,000 seats in the East and West stands that are £34 with no concessions. Over half the ground has no concessions...how does this encourage families, children or new supporters to come to Elland Road? Is it really any surprise that these seats are the ones that remain unsold every game? Is it really surprising to anyone that attendances are dropping this season?
He's just a gormless waste of space. First time in his life he's probably realising he can't successfully spin words and facts to keep people happy and he's grasping at straws. Stupid fat old bastard.
I reckon the man in black with the long clever is on his way to old Mr Bates, it's only a matter of time till they meet and Bates is removed to the hell he belongs in. please log in to view this image he's a coming Ken, he's a coming
Yet another stupid comment from a thick-as-pig-**** man. No dialogue, no apology, no concern whatsoever for the fans. How he can make this astounding claim based on BBC (thought he hated them?) research and the assumption of Category C pricing is beyond me.
Exactly Leeds-18. It's like they just have the Category C pricing so they can defend themselves on ticket prices. Also discounting the fact that over half the ground is the no concessions most expensive tickets. It's no wonder ER is always half empty, when the empty half is so expensive.
****in dumb **** has totally dropped the ball with opening the East Upper. It was kept closed to keep insurance costs down on match days when we didn't need the extra seats - guess what? We still don't need the extra seats. Even less now. ****ing dumb ****. How can be so ****ing clueless to think our attendances would go up after such poor activity in the transfer window?
