Why would we want either of these two at the club? One is broken and hasn't played for 3 years and the other is a criminal and just generally an absolute dickhead. He would destroy the team spirit as he has done at Newcastle. Not to mention that neither would drop to the Championship, especially at our wage structure. But our wage structure is good. No Championship player should be on some of the wages other clubs are dishing out.

I'm with Que Somma. How we're missing out on the likes of Given, Phil Jones, Ashley Young, Stewart Downing... and now Barton! It's disgusting. Obvioulsy Ken Bates is a secret billionare who just isn't willing to pump money into the team. We have 0 ambition - disgusting behaiviour. Fans of every club in England aside from Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool should be ripping up their season tickets and marching on their chairmans' office.
Hargreave srecord is 39 games in 4 seasons so I don,t think even if we paid him 10k a week this would equate to£50k for every match he was fit to play as for Barton he would destroy any dressing room moral we might as well go the whole hog and bring in Bellamy as well!
Remember when Howard Wilkinson signed Vinny Jones - a first division player - while we were in the old div 2? True he also signed Strachen (an absolute gem of a player and the best bargain we had since Giles) but Vinny's attitude made us rock solid in that 1988-89 season. I remember a story of how he introduced himself to the squad, he wacked some player in the mouth and asked if there was anyone who had anything to say about his footballing ability. By all accounts the silence was deafening.
