So bates has decided to give away a free home shirt to any junior who buys a ticket for the southampton game. is this a direct response to the planned boycott? is it the 1st victory for the protests? or would he have done this anyway?

surely it has to be down to the protests. i think bates didnt want the crowd to be very low for a televised game as it reflects the way hes running the club. therefore giving away freebies will hopefully attract more families/ father-sons

however this should be the sort of promotion that the club runs more often. after all the junior fans are the future

a step in the right direction i believe. more of the same please bates

I would say this is a direct reaction from the boycott. What I think it is is he has realised he needs fans onside, he also sees that because he has just hired warnock that'll get some fans onside so he is trying to make it better

And Ellandback, you have a new video sig....

Sorry chaps, call me a cynic, but I think it's got more to do with a shedload of shirts that are about to go past their sell by date, that frantic '50% off' email bombardments have failed to shift.

Macron have got to be the worst kit makers we have ever had.

I have had most of the shirts they have produced & they have all gone to **** bar the 2009/10 third kit (blue Stripey one)

I have the home top & blue away top from this season that are falling appart so I'm not getting the black away shirt no matter how much I like it.

    MACRON OUT <grr>

I'm with Jock on this one. End of season sale didn't shift enough, so take the alternative & give a few away. Nothing unusual. You see market stall holders do it all the time.

It a pity that parents who have laid out money for a junior season ticket have only one chance to win a shirt but the fans who may only attend one or two games a season get a free shirt. What will the junior season tickets holders get ?

Bates has been shaken by the loudness of the dissenting voices. He did not like seeing the march on TV, and it made him and his directors realise that this is more than just a few "morons" banging tin cups. He is fully aware of the protest against him gathering pace, and he knows the Saints game has been targeted as the cameras are there. He knew he had to act and Warnock was the first step hastily concluded. This shirt promotion is the next step to try and pour cold water on the protests. He could easily have done this for the Donny game, or even a Tuesday night match to try and swell the crowd. He knows the Saints game is a big match and will draw a crowd, he just doesn't want that crowd marching against him.

TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE BATES! You are on borrowed time!
Remember the Donny Carling (cup) game at their place?
Donny chairman (Ryan) wanted to charge £10 per adult (& £5 for kids I think) to draw a big crowd, but Bates said "no chance" & everyone got charged £20 or £25 (which was a cheap game for us!!!!) a lot of the Donny fans stayed away.
Bates has always dismissed discounts etc. to bolster his bank acount, proving he really doesnt give a damn about the fans.

Another example is when there are offers in the daily newspapers giving tokens away for Football League games - Leeds are one of the few if not the only club who do not participate.

I remember (back in the day!) when we were in the Premier League, I could buy a family ticket for £60 - playing top opposition not rag tag teams in Championship.

There is no such thing with Bates, he is driving families away with his prices & the kids are our future fan base, & future income.

But the old tw*t doesnt care about the long term cos he will be pushing up daisies by then (hopefully!) he just wants to milk the cow now.

That is why I am boycotting Elland Road while he is there. Its hard, but I wont chant Bates out, then line his pockets with my money.

    NO MORE DOUGH TO MONACO!
