We've been linked with a move for him in the last couple of days, i'd take him at United, his price would be 10 million pounds, that's a bargain in today's market.
Too much of a short term fix. I'd rather we got someone who will be the bedrock of our midfield for the next 10 years. LVG needs to build something for the long term.
I doubt he would be sold for 10 million. You using the same sources that put vidal at 14m and pedro at 7m?
He has the Daily Express: http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...-deal-World-Cup-winner-Bastian-Schweinsteiger Tbh I'd put more weight on the voices in Matth's head...
Pigfucker would add some experience and leadership which would be a great thing. However hes getting on and is injured as often as Carrick.
He's thirty isn't he? Same age as Ronaldo, would Ronaldo be dismissed as too old to come back? I think he'd be ideal, perfect short term replacement for Carrick, adding experience and a winning mentality. It's probably a couple of years later than ideal but if he is available at this price it's a no brainer, the bloke is up there with the best at centre mid in Europe. No reason why a younger longer term player can't be found a swell, get both now while needed.
Fair point but at 30 I'm always weary of new arrivals to the Prem. Who has really adapted well at that age?
How old was Ballack? Not sure if I'm honest but he must have been nearly thirty? Anyway, I think Schweinsteiger is a great player and very much in the Carrick mould. He could give us four good years and would be ideal back in Europe too.
28 seems to stick in my mind? Is he in the same mould though. Schwein is a tough tackler, a powerhouse who likes to drive forward.
Alright, they're not identical players (are there any) but he could certainly form a good partnership with Herrera and play the senior role. In that respect, similar. As he's got a bit older he's a bit more withdrawn.
I think Ballack turned 30 the year he signed for Chelsea. Schweinsteiger turns 31 this summer, so not much difference in age. That said, I didn't rate Ballack all that highly at Chelsea - he was poor in his first season or so, and a shadow of the player he once was. I think Schweinsteiger would offer us something in the short term, but I think we would also need to try and pick up a player at their peak, rather than relying on one who is at risk of going downhill quickly over the next year or so.
