I know a little about him. The little I know about him is as follows... I couldn't begin to try to pronounce his last name.
Haha! Previous German under 20 international, was voted 3rd best left back in the bundesliga last year apparently
Spoke to a Frankfurt fan on twitter about him. He rates him, he's very good going forward. Had a good season last year. Was voted somewhere as 3rd best left back in the bundesliga and the best somewhere else. Oh and apparently he's class on Football Manager. He reckoned they'd want in excess of €10m, but something tells me he probably wouldn't be that much otherwise we wouldn't be interested.
Supposedly his dream was to play for Sunderland of Wearside!! Can't argue with Wikipedia.. what's written on there is gospel after all!
not sure where you heard the £10m quote ive read £4m But if he,s 3rd left back in Germany why arnt we going after the other two lol
Because they probably play for Dortmund & Bayern, and we aren't going to be getting people from there...
SUNDERLAND TO LAUNCH £4M BID FOR GERMAN DEFENDER BASTIAN OCZIPKA The Black Cats have made an inquiry for the Eintracht Frankfurt full-back, 24. Busy boss Di Canio is scouring the market for a left-back to fill the spot vacated by Danny Rose. Rose has returned to Tottenham after a successful loan spell at the Stadium of Light last season. Former German youth star Oczipka is expected to be in contention for a senior international call-up this season. Oczipka is one left-back option on Di Canio’s list of targets along with Argentinian Lucas Orban. The Atletico Tigre defender has not decided between the Black Cats, Villarreal or River Plate. Di Canio is expected to wrap up deals for Juventus’ £7m Italy midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini and Velez Sarsfield’s Argentinian right-back Gino Peruzzi next week. Their arrivals would take Sunderland’s tally of summer signings to 10. And seven of Di Canio’s eight new additions so far are foreign. Meanwhile, Sunderland legend Niall Quinn has warned Di Canio not to fall into the same trap which cost Roy Keane his job. The Italian is bringing in an entire team as he looks to change the Black Cats’ fortunes. But ex-chairman Quinn reckons his revolution is fraught with dangers. “He’s making massive changes on and off the pitch. The club’s pretty much unrecognisable from the one I left not too long ago,” said Quinn. “It’s a high-risk strategy, not unlike what Roy did during my time at the club which was to try to make a positive impact. “That worked for Roy. It helped get us up from the bottom of the Championship, get us promoted and helped keep us there.

Came on this board specifically to talk about this player once I saw the rumour. Really like watching him play, doesn't over complicate things but gets forward well and contains attacks well too, when he's not caught out too far up the pitch. If he's available for £4mill I think it's a really good deal, I'd rather we sold Rose to you(for more) and bought him ourselves if he's available for that kind of price. I'm not entirely sure but I think it's pronounced Ok-ship-ka by the way.
