Is he still supposed to be joining us? He did not look anywhere near good enough last night. Spurs central defense looked terrible on both PAOK goals, they totally lost the opposition strikers.
Very rusty from what I saw last night - read some comments from Spurs fans that he was prone to such errors as well.
When's he ever had a run in their team, for them to judge him? not recently. Another who's been racked and stacked by Spurs.
that back 4 had not played together before so it would have taken time and Spurs were asleep for the 1st 15 minutes,i wouldn't judge him on that performance,he's still a solid defender for me.
Mmmh I'm sceptical, but hope you are both right if he comes to us. I'd prefer someone putting in solid defensive performances regularly in the PL if we can get someone like that.
Traore looked dreadful when Man U tonked Arsenal but he has been one of our best players since moving. So you can't read everything into a single performance. On the other hand if only NW had watched Hulse play a few recent games before making that decision...

Traore deal had already been agreed (but not signed) when Arsenal had to play him against Man U so he was playing knowing he was coming to us. Obviously didn't want to get injured and scupper his move. Apart from his bookings he has looked real class and equal to anybody Arsenal still have at FB.
More than any other position on the park, I think we need to get in at least one quality Central defender in January, who can go straight into our starting 11 and improve it. We are shipping too many sloppy goals. We may not have the time to bring in rusty, if quality, defenders, who have hardly played top football for months, like Bassong will probably be, and wait while they get in match form and fitness again. We coud fall into the bottom 3 while we wait. Traore and Young have been great signings, but I think we need better than Anton and Gabbi in our start 11 to shore us up at the back.
If you are right Cerny, I reckon we need another CB then, one playing regularly and well in the PL now.
