NP has confirmed to HDM after last nights game that he hopes to sign Basso on a one year deal and feels that it should be sorted in the next couple of days. Apparently he has been excellent in training. Sounds like a good combo (Gulacsi/Basso/Oxley) to me. Presume he had little to do last night but does anyone who was there have any views on his performance?
made 2 good saves and thats all he needed to do, they didn't do to much attacking....let in a goal obviously but was a good goal
Most keepers are pretty decent at kicking, how come for the past 10 years at least we seem to have found all the ones that are rubbish!?
Can he throw ball far though, look at Pepe Reina and Iker Casillas to name a couple they seem to just lob it rather than kick it half the time.
To be fair, he only fluffed one kick. He didn't get much practice in, his distribution was all short. He played one superb pass out to Barmby on the wing near the end!
playing the kind of football i hope we're looking to play, id have thought dudgeon/rosenior would be dropping wide to give him a throwing option instead of a hoof up to our relatively small midfield and forward line. from whats been said and excusing him some match rustyness he'll make an excellent number 2.
So long as the distributions good I don't care about the kicking side of it, hate to see the hoof it and hope goalies kicks, would rather see goalies play the ball out via throws or short passes
We're not talking about booting the ball out here, we're talking about kicking under pressure from back passes which was Matt Duke's Achilles heel.
Hull City aren't allowed to play out from the back at home because all the dickheads in the crowd start moaning after 5 passes.
I think it's more because one of the defenders messes up within a couple of passes. Stick to your strengths! Or at least avoid your weaknesses.
He can't be any worse than Dukey in terms of kicking under pressure. Looks a solid presence as no.2 behind Gulacsi, who I'm very much looking forward to seeing
I personally dont expect to see much of Basso once the season starts. Macclesfield for sure though. He willbe there to keep Gulacsi on his toes. So i shall be watching this kid will great interest @ Winterton tonight.
