I feel hurt that people have been spreading rumours about me, seems to be his message. "The bondholders seem to be happy" says quite a lot I think. http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2823076,00.html
Bless. Is it me, or does he come across as a sulky child? Still, he's right...he's done all those things...but putting millions in? We only have his word for that...
People have been doing wrong at the club? Would he like to tell us more, or is afraid of the action that could follow?
Please do? Previous owners have shown more transparency, I dunno what Bassini expects but I'm not a sheep who will assume everything is as he says it is.
The person who refused to open the safe was one thing. But if I were one of the others who had recently left the club, I would be seeking advice on that last paragraph.
Very strange and Baz should consider getting in a PR company. Yes, he has achieved a lot, but let's himself down with some other comments. Nothing worse than making those sort of allegations. Reading between the lines he has been sidelined and will be getting the boot...another day in the life of a watford fan!
very interesting statement.... in one sense YES we have consolidated under his ownership..... But his interpersonal skills are woeful....
I am sad that he came with a lot of critics after him and he has done a lot of good. I think he should have been more public in some of his work and that would have got more support from the supporters. In the last weeks he has undone his good works by being and saying silly things.
He does seem a little petulant with this. Its almost as if he is throwing his toys out the pram. He is not wrong in that he has done some good things, after all thanks to him we do have a nearly completed pub which should start bringing in some revenue in a few years, we are also getting a pitch which was overdue by about 4yrs and has the effect of improving the style of play. So we do have to thank him for that, but he has almost made a mistake for every good thing he has done. Im sure you can find it out there somewhere, you just need to look in the right places. Also he has been slightly more open than Ashcroft and Simpson if i remember correctly. But yes he could have been more open, but not many would be.
If you care about what people think about you, the last thing you do is buy a football club knowing that the best players will have to leave in the near future. Not blaming Bassini for any particular departure (Danny was always going, Buckley wasn't wanted by the managers, Cowie was 0% Baz's fault), just saying.
Thanks to Dyche mostly I think, not his efforts. Regarding the consolidation, no the interpersonal skills, obviously he was born with that gift !
Does rather come across as "poor little me" but I think he has a point. Badly put and I think he has been ill advised (or not advised at all not) to make this statement. No one will be popular with all of the people all of the time and football club owners need to have a thicker skin than most. Personally I think he has been good for the club. He made several decent decisions leading to good management of the team and consolodating our Championship status at the expense of immediate ground development. Quite right too. Now he is looking to offload the club to a family with a proven track record in successful football club ownership. He obviously feels he's never had the unequivocal support he feels he deserves and has taken the club as far as he can. The big question comes in that will we be happy at being perceived to be a 'feeder club' however right or wrong that is should the take over happen? What is the alternative?
"Now he is looking to offload the club to a family with a proven track record in successful football club ownership." Are you sure that is what is happening? It looks more as if the club has been taken out of his hands by the bondholders.
May I refer you to my 'profile' OFH? I am not sure at all, just proferring my opinion based on what I've seen. Happy to digest a fuller explaination.
Have the bank called in the overdraft? Its really impossible to dig the facts out to get a proper picture but it certainly appears that there has been an act leading the the bondholders being able to execute the immediate payment clause, it was probably prior to the one of removing timperly from the board of Watford Leisure. Bassini is most definitely a little inconsistent in his statements and I don't believe he wanted to get out at this point. On the surface he seems to have done right by the club but wrong by himself in terms of PR and communication. A lot of rubbish seems to be spouted around the transfer fees but these were very controlled by the bondholder agreement in terms of usage and you can bet this was closely monitored, it could be in this area that a compelling event took place but who knows... Hurry u[ and get the deal done whatever way so prep can happen for the season.
I did think that Baz deserved a chance to start and didn't like that people didn't trust him from the start! But sadly I think I have been proved wrong! While I think has done some good things for the club, the secrecy certainly hasn't helped because he can't back up any of his financial claims. I also have a big problem with his claim that he is responsible for season ticket sales being up. I would have thought that it was down to how the team finished the season on the pitch! After reading articles about the Pozzo's, I will stand by them and hope they get the chance to do with us what they have done with their other clubs. Let’s hope I don't get these owners wrong to!
Bit of a PR mess isn't he which isn't good in such a public role. I am sure he has good ideas and means well for the club but then so did Graham Simpson and Mark Ashton.
I might be a little out of touch - but really what has he done wrong? - As far as i can see he did steer the club away from administration and he appointed S Dyche and allowed him to manage the team. If as he suggests there are people out to rubbish him - well thats poor - I personally wish him well and hope he continues to support the club. As for the new owners - if they come about - I am not happy with them dismissing Dyche who as far as i am concerned is a blinking good manager.
