Pardew: "On the injury front, José Enríque looks doubtful, but will be fine for Wolves we think. Joey Barton is touch and go, Stephen Ireland will definitely miss Stoke. Jonás is doubtful as well so we’ve got some problems. Nile Ranger should train on Monday."

And the injury list also includes Ben Arfa, Smith, Gosling, Lua Lua (and Raylor is suspended).

Who do we play against Stoke?

This is all I can think of, given that Guthrie should never play on the wing and that is now apparent we cant put Saylor or Simpson out of position either:

    -----------------------Harper
    Simpson-----Williamson-----Colo-----Ferguson
    ---------------Nolan--Tiote--Guthrie
    -------------Best-----Shola-----Ranger

It would have to a narrow 4-3-3 in this case IMO, given that Best and Ranger cant really play as a wide front man, unless we play Lover and Ranger wide.

    Any better ideas? I'm struggling

Just because of Stokes pure presence in the air we must accomodate Saylor in CB, Willow is bigger but for me is not as dominant in the air

I'd play Campbell at CB, is he fit?

Ah, he's a good calm influence at the back would be good for the Stoke game imo. Even if he has lost a few yards of pace, Stoke aren't exactly lightning up front are they.

    Cheers.

Shola on Saturday wasnt happy with that mask on and I didnt see him go for a high ball. He has also said it is taking some getting used to. Dont know we should risk him unless he is our final choice.

True, you could understand him being included if he was fit, but he has missed so many games this year because of "knocks", I think he'll certainly have to retire this summer.

Shola as the link between a slow midfield and the strikers?

He's not fast but he's got a decent touch and pass + keeps him from straying offside every attack.

It's a very difficult one, but i think againt Stoke it has to be a 4-42:

    Harper
    Simmo - Tayls - Colo - Fergie
    Ranger - Tiote - Nolan - Guthrie
    Shola - Best

We need to play Shola, mainly for some height defending set pieces. And though i think Willow is a better defensive header of the ball than Tayls, he always looks like he's going to give away a foul! And Tayls is better at attacking in the opposite box, which could be vital against them.

Tough game, a point, with out injury's, would be a good result.

If we wanted to use him off the bench or give him more time to adjust to the mask, then I think we could do worse than start Kuqi (he was signed as Shola's temporary replacement), or even start Lover and have Best in the centre.

Possibly this, but I'd stick Saylor at CB instead of Willo for this game

Struggling to think of any other possibilities. Unless we play with wing backs again?

    Simmo ---------------------- Fergie
    ------ Guthrie - Tiote - Nolan
    --------------Shola
    ------------------Best

I was going to suggest this, could have a go with:

    ------------------------Harper
    Simpson----Saylor----Williamson----Colo----Ferguson
    ------------Guthrie-----Tiote------Nolan
    ---------------Best----------Ranger

then you get Saylor and Williamsons dominance in the air, without unfairly dropping Colo, and less pressure on Ferguson.

What about Vuckic on the right or left wing - he can play there can't he?

i think 5-3-2/ 3-5-2 is the only option and it also means less players out of position.

    Harps
    simmo tayls willo collo ferguson
    Nolan Tiote Guthrie
    Best Shola
