Probably bollocks but due to circumstances at Lisbon he maybe available on a free transfer.
Long term target and a price Ashley will like

Isn't it because he is looking at buying his contract out? Therefore wants the transfer fee for himself.

He wants to leave the club because he was attacked and physically injured by thugs (ultras) who are supposedly supportrs of the club.
I don’t know why this happened, but it’s why he wants to leave.
It has been said that he will buy himself out of his contract in order to do this if necessary.

I didn't actually realise his record for Sporting was so good. He's got 61 in 61 for them. Saw a bit of him in the German league but don't really get to see any Portuguese football.

Personally, l can’t understand why people don’t think he would be a good signing for NUFC.
The guy is awesome and his stats are very good.
I for one would be over the moon if he came to the club, but l won’t hold my breath.
I know he has been linked with us numerous times in the past, but due to the recent unsavoury events, this must be the best opportunity to go for him.

He's a proven goal scorer but definitely needs service. When he was first linked with us I just thought we would no way make enough chances for him. Last season we actually did make quite a few opportunities just no one to finish them off.

Well, he's just terminated his contract as predicted. Available on a 'free' now, so might appeal to MA... Though this usually translates to higher agent fees and wages so maybe not.

Crazy situ there. Dost, Martin’s, Carvalho, Patricio, Fernandes all great signings for someone. It will be too lively for us now as some decent clubs will be all over this.

Be great to sign all 5 and Abel Hernandez on a free, great summer <laugh>

Just need a centre back for cover.

    Mikes dream.

Imagine the true cost of some of these mind. Did Dost actually buy out his contract in the end? If so, he's going to be after a hefty signing-on fee to cover it and that's before you look at wage and loyalty bonus.

Free's probably sound great to Mike, until he remembers he still got Little Jack Colback sat on 40k.

They all bought their contracts out or have resigned. Sporting are saying there will be a legal challenge. Could be messy to get involved with but I doubt that would put Rafa or Mike off.
