word on the street that Ba genuinely can't pass a medical because of a degerative knee problem. similar to that of ledley king and Ricardo Fuller.

Obviously tony pulis wasn't prepared to take a punt on him but west ham have never had any trouble purchasing cripples and amputees on massive contracts which has ultimately led to their eventual relegation.

should we take the fact that west ham were happy enough to take him on as a sign that he's worth taking a punt on free with?

personally i would say if we signed him it should be written into his contract that if he's out for more than 3 months with an injury his wages are dropped to a lower percentage until he's back playing agin to safe guard against a owen hargreaves situation.

  5. He failed a medical at WHU and stilled scored goals. I'd sign him on a free, but he can shove his 75k up his arse, he's only getting 50k max.

Hopefully we'll get his salary right down with a higher appearance fee tied into his contract, would be a win/win situation for us.

I can't see him signing. We are looking at playing with a sell value, his knee will surely only get worse as his career continues. Hardly good if we want to sell him in the future. However, he is free and I supose selling him for 4m in the future would at least right off his wages over the duratiom of a contract. Win win?

to all of those saying he should take 50k i think you're all mad. he should take less than that or **** off. fact stands he's played a handful of PL games and scored 7 goals. hes got a ****ed knee and still unproven really.

would all of you be willing to sign leon best up for that kind of contract? at the end of the day he would be able to pass a medical and has a similar goal scoring record. Thats the way you've got to look at it in my opinion.

50k contracts should be meated out to only our top players with a proven pedigree.

Not worth the risk in my opinion unless we ship out an existing striker such as Shola and bring in Ba but his salary request has to be in line with the clubs ethos.

He's failed two medicals in 3 years when he was looking at leaving Hoffenheim and that doesn't bode well for a striker we'll need for large swathes of the season.

You can't put clauses like that in his contract, what if he breaks his leg?

if he breaks his leg then he can **** off as well...haha.

on a serious note if its a knee related injury we should have clauses. anybody could break a leg playing footy.

nice idea but i doubt he'd sign it. Plus, I reckon Pardew might get sick of the instructions from upstairs to sub him on 59 mins every week.

There are other options out there. I don't think we should sign him at all if he can't pass the medical. From what i've read West Ham had to take out an additional (very expensive) insurance policy out on him because their insurance wouldn't cover his knee.

Do we really want to be paying somebody a tidy sum every week not to play for us? Because if we sign this crock it is a case of when he ends up on the treatment table and not if!

This, you can't call him a prem proven striker when he's only played 12 games.
