The latest QPR related tweets from our much loved Captain after Saturday's debacle. If it wasn't so pathetic it would be hilarious.
Not sure what to say, really. Maybe he means it? I mean... I'm sure most players are giving the effort and want to win but are just making mistakes because the confidence is low in the team. But I think Barton will always get stick because of his reputation. Then again, he could be the worst bad apple in the team. [edit] By the way, Barton is consistently one of the furthest runners in each game. Just thought I'd throw that in there.
He has proved beyond all doubt this season that he talks the talk but he can't walk the walk. These comments mean nothing to me.
Agree. He may run a lot, but in cleaning up his bad boy act he has become incapable of putting in a decent tackle!
I think if there's one thing you guys can't fault Barton on it actually is effort, he gives more than the rest of the team - bar Hill/Mackie etc
Barton may tweet b*llox, he is poison, his passing ability is hardy PL standard, but to say he's not trying is equally as big a load of old b*llox. You only got to read the stats that pop up on the TV after every game! He is running more than any player on the pitch every game, and I expect his tackling stats are about the best on our team since we lost Ale. Hardly the performance of a player not trying! He also holds his head in his hands when he screws up, just like Hill and Mackie, not that I see that the abilty to hold your head with hands means a flying f*kk.
Whilst I think Barton had a poor game on Saturday I don't think you can fault his effort. Bit like our good Norwich ref he is judged on his name. Switch the title to Derry or HH tweets and we'd all be discussing the heroic fighting talk and why can't the captain come out and say it!!
I'll be very surprised if they are. He just doesn't tackle like he used to. He's trying to clean up his image and we are left with half the player.
Bang on and as I have always said he is here because no one else wanted him... Remember the Arsenal row ... That was enough to tell every fan on here then he was looking at other clubs in his mind I still think that's the case ... We are stuck with him and if he helps us get into the middle league then thank you but now **** off
Bartons stats on 'distance travelled' dont mean jack ****!. And talking of his stats, I seem to remember his 16 miss placed passes in one game!?!
What I've come to accept is that Joey Barton has an opinion and I might be wrong here, but I get the impression that he either doesn't value anyone else's opinion or doesn't think that anyone else might differ. He reminds me of the guy at school who could be very deep at times and very profound, and equally bloody stupid by the same measure. We can all get to that point at times, but usually there's a close mate who turns round to you and tells you straight. Turn it in. Likely that he's the only one you'll take it from. What if Barton doesn't have that mate? Thinks he's invincible and above it all. My guess is you go on believing in yourself. Add in an ego and a pseudo intellectual slant and I think you'll end up close to where JB is at the moment. Thing is, it wasn't long ago when I was relishing him giving the 3-0 salute to Wolves fans and cherishing his mischievous character. I guess that this tells me, that like most fans on this board, we can only tolerate this when times are good?
Of course they mean jack sh*t. It is a crucial part of a midfield players role - we need a player getting from box to box as Barton is. Would you have Derry there in his place?! He can hardly make it to their half way line without struggling to get home next time we lose the ball.
