  1. I apologize for over reacting to this, but sometimes you never know which sources to trust.

From now on i'm only trusting things posted on the offical NUFC site, and i'm going to disregard anything controversial in ****ty papers like the daily mail and the sun.

    I should know better. Sorry.

I don't agree with any player holding any club to ransom at any time.

But the points he makes are valid, we have a quality starting 11 and a decent PL squad but it's simply not big enough! We need a group of 20 + players who could all comfortably start a PL game if we want to challenge for Europe. So to say we need 5/6 £6m players is a pretty accurate summary.

And as for Willo as a cover player?! For me he'd start alongside Colo all day long, he's really stepped it up in the prem and they've created a fantastic partnership this year, Saylor will struggle to break that pair up.

He hasn't said he's going to quit, all he's said is that we need some more quality players and the pie man needs to invest the money earned on the Carroll deal, which is a sentiment echoed on here everyday.

So we buy 3 "quality" players and some back up?
How many back up? Only Williamson as back up defensively so 2? 3?

So that would come to 3+2 or 3=5 or 6.

I don't think Barton has 'threatened' anything. He has merely stated that the Carroll money needs to be reinvested rather than trousered by Fat Boy, which is entirely reasonable. If the squad isn't strengthened he is well within his rights to consider offers from other, more ambitious, clubs.

No direct quotes saying he is going to walk, as discussed on the other article talking about it. Could you have not just contributed there instead of making your own article?

Woah woah woah! Are you trying to confuse Tash? That level of mathematics should be saved for Super-Computers!

Players we have (p) players we need (n) ideal amount (i) Tash conundrum (T)

    p + n x T = i/n^T

23 man squad is the answer. 4 or 5 young'uns and the rest starting or quality backup.

I seem to remember a few days ago, one of our very own posters threatened to leave if he didn't get his way. A bit of throwing toys out of the pram and crying about how nobody loved him. I was quite concerned I thought he might do something silly to himself.

Maybe even change his name or something serious like that.

    OK

I completely agree with what Joey says. The money from the sale of Carroll must be invested in the team as we need 5-6 quality players in order to mount a sustainable challenge for Europe next season, which after all the good work done this year, should be our aim.
If Ashley does not spend and bring in some decent additions to the squad the rest of the players will naturally, like Barton, feel that they are wasting at a club whose ambition does not match their own.
Barton is only saying what most of us fans are feeling.

Why do you always have to slag off our players?

If it's not Colo it's Jonas. If it's not Jonas it's Joey Barton. You'll be running out of players to masterbate over soon!!

As i mentioned on another thread I reckon it's all spin but I think these players genuinely will look to leave at the back end of the transfer window if we don't start to see new faces soon. They aren't asking too much really.

A top striker, maybe up to the 10-15 million mark (Pavlyuchenko, Rodallega, Gervinho sort of ilk) and then one or two of the likes of oxlade-chamberlain or connor whickham would add strength and depth to our stiking options. Another right winger would be useful and then some defensive cover for Jose. Personally I would have loved Samba to come in the Jan window, I think he's head and shoulders above Willo and Taylor but I doubt he'd leave Blackburn now due to them not needing to sell.

So we are talking 5-6 players, maybe only 2 or 3 of them need to be proven prem quality and the rest can be young prospects.
