QUOTE QPR star Joey Barton tells âOrwellianâ FA to evolve Midfielder slams governing body over warning letter Thursday 26 January 2012 by Greg Leedham Printable page Printable Email Email Football: QPR skipper Joey Barton launched a ferocious attack on the Football Association today, labelling the governing body an âOrwellian organisationâ in need of a âdrastic shake-up.â The former Newcastle man, 29, posted the comments via his Twitter account after he receiving a warning letter from the FA for predicting the outcome of the weekendâs matches involving Manchester United and Manchester City. Barton said that he was told that his predictions could be interpreted as âinsider information.â The serial Tweeter, who claimed he has received 30 letters from the FA, wrote: âJust received my weekly warning letter from FA headquarters, this time regarding me tweeting about predicting the weekendâs Manchester double. âAccording to the FA, I am not allowed to give my opinion of possible results in case that is seen as insider information. These people are so out of touch with reality itâs untrue. âWhat difference does my opinion of the outcome of a match have on the result? None. #rightinthebinâ He added: âThe strange thing is they have probably sent me 30 letters since I started tweeting. Thatâs 30 pieces of paper wasted. Stop sending please. âIâll prob get a letter about the last few tweets. Thatâs how ridiculous itâs become. Drastic shake-up needed to move the game into 21st century. âHopefully they stop trying to be an Orwellian organisation and get to grips with the change thatâs happening in the world around them. âDonât understand how they can try to police a technology they understand very little about.â QPR confirmed the signing of Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha yesterday on a four-and-a-half-year deal. The 25-year-old had been little more than a fringe player at City and now links up with former manager Mark Hughes at Loftus Road. Onuoha becomes the recently appointed QPR managerâs second signing following the recent addition of AC Milanâs Taye Taiwo and moves for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £2.5 million. âThe ambition of the owners was really appealing,â said Onuoha, who could make his debut against Chelsea in tomorrowâs FA Cup fourth round tie. âThis is my club now and Iâll give everything to help us succeed.âQUOTE

He may be right, but when a body has extensive powers over you, diplomacy is the order of the day. He's captain of QPR so management should be asking whether he is seen as speaking on behalf of the club. Hopefully the FA will see its Just Joey but still, from QPR's point of view, if you lie down with dogs, you get fleas...
Barton's not wrong, the FA is one of those monolithic organisations that is full of self-important time-servers. Local FAs are even worse and take out their petty megalomania on Sunday League amateurs who don't have expensive briefs on their side. Balottelli got 4 matches for what he did on Sunday, whereas a Sunday League amateur would have got 112 days or worse. A total bunch of ****s...
That just about sums them up! She was Chief Executive of Lambeth Council, the biggest basket-case in local government and then was Chief Executive of Millwall. Forget football, just don't make any comments about how dykey the Millwall Lionesses look...
Couldn't agree more. And it goes all the way back up the food chain too. What could be better than having a World Cup in a country where the thermometer hits 40 degrees plus in the summer? Nothing dodgy going on there at all. As "the people's game" football, and it's authorities need to be accountable. And they're not. It's run like some Medieval fiefdom where grace and favour abound. It stinks to high Heaven and back.
