From NUFC.com Communicating with the planet via his newly-established Twitter account, Joey Barton commented on Sunday: "Finished playing golf, 72 not bad. Came in to questions about joining Everton??? I don't want to leave Newcastle but thanks anyway. "I can't sign a contract if am not offered one? Basically they want a younger, better, cheaper player. "Can't blame Mike (Ashley) and Derek (Llambias) can you? Slight problem is, they don't want to spend any money or pay any wages. It's genius really ha ha. "I am an employee so have to be careful here. Everyone knows I'd love to stay, I get on with Pardew fine and our dressing room is first class. "If I'm not offered a new contract, my hands are tied. I will continue to do everything in my power to bring a trophy to St James' next season."
Fair play to him at least he will stay and give his all until he leaves on a free. If he brings the League or Fa Cup home maybe Mike Ashley will be forced to offer him a contract.
No bother, I guess if you avoid twitter (or the threads with twitter in the title) it'll have been easy enough to miss.
I gave in a couple of days ago. Wish I hadn't 'cos all it does is distract me and get my delusional false hope going again! EDIT: same screen name as on here if anyone fancies following me.... /shameless plug
I avoided it for a long time, then only added it 'cause I found the fake Sam Allardyce account funny...Solely followed him and Graham Swann during the Ashes and then since then its been over-run with newcastle players and gossip mongers. Rarely say much on it myself but its got its uses and definitely appeals to the voyeuristic side of most Toon fans!
Some good news this morning is that Everton have said they have no interest in signing Barton. I've got an idea for a thread, to have all the transfer news and contract news on one thread and have it as a sticky during the transfew window. Does anyone think this is a good idea, or are people going to put all transfer news(any club/league/country) on seperate threads. ??
Good idea...It won't stop new threads popping up, but will hopefully at least clean the board up initially! Maybe a thread for Incomings and another for Outgoings
I like the incomings and outgoings bit, but if people are going to talk about other clubs and leagues and countries, there won't be any need for incomings and Outgoings
