did post this up in the barton contract article but thought it could do with its own article.... lol anyway....

is it worth keeping him out on the right wing now that carroll has gone?

we all know he was mainly put out there to provide crosses for carroll, as carroll was better in the air then ranger/shola/best but now he has gone.

yes he has been in outstanding form for us this season, but now surley putting him in the centre giving him more of the ball we would see his performances get better and would have more of an impact there.

villa is a perfect chance to test it out, with tiote and nolan both suspended.

taylor will be back for the villa game, so for me stick barton in the middle with gutrie and put taylor on the right, and ranger and shola up front.

  3. Agree with this <ok>

Guthrie and Barton are both class CM's. Thanks for making me feel better about this game :D

I was wondering about who we were gonna play

EDIT - Although i agree with Sachino above aswell.

Agree with Sanchino... fancy our chances with fergie and raylor down the wings, barton and guthrie in the middle.

I agree that we should play Barton in the centre against Villa. But i think he should stay on the right long term, he's by far the best crosser and i don't think he plays as a typical right winger he's more like a footballing version of a quarterback - with the deep positions he delivers from, his great vision and intelligence. He seems to have a free role drifting in from the right to the centre and thrives under it rather than a more disciplined CM role.

I think he will stay there till end of the season (suspensions and injurys permitting). Can't see him playing there next season though as I think we will change to a 4-5-1 or 4-3-3. Plus Pardew has already said he wants more pace in the side.

Barton will have to play in the centre against villa and will be good to see how him and guthrie get on
