Sky Sports are reporting that a trio of clubs, including Arsenal and Spurs have enquired about Joey Barton.

    Thoughts?

His agent was on 5 Live but would not say which teams were after Barton. He did mention English & European teams that were playing in the Champions League. He also said that if Barton had played for Arsenal we would have won the league last season

Liverpool will be dumb enough to offer Newcastle £20M for him, even thought he is on a free

i'd have to think hard about supporting a team with him in, although it isn't going to happen. Just more paper rubbish, he's available, we have a perceived 'soft touch' = tomorrow's back page 'exclusive'.

Whats with all this arrogance from fellow gunners fans regarding Barton? The last time i checked the Arsenal squad, we have some very average players in it. If it wasn't for his attitude, he is a very good premiership player who has underachieved.

I actually like Barton but I don't think it would be a good move for us.

Good player, his attitude is something we could do without. Unfortunately the negatives outweigh the positives.

I would welcome Barton. I think he's far better than people give him credit for. My only worry (as goonercymcraig points out) is that he does come with baggae.
I hear has has smooth legs and I do like his haircut.

I think, on a free, contract circa 35k....why not?

To be fair to him he seems to have turned his life around, when was the last time you heard about him getting in to a fight?

The same Paul Ince that got booted out of management for being a muppet and hasn't done F'all since?

If the likes of Fletcher, Evans, Smalling, Gibson etc can all play for the first 11, then Barton quite easily could. If it wasn't for his extra baggage he would be doing much better. Remember he is a full England international.

Whilst we may all be concerned about Barton's past misdemeanours let's not forget we welcomed Tony Adams back as our captain after he served a jail term

I think he'd add more to your midfield than another tip tappy footballer like Mata to be honest. For a free I would hope we'd be interested given Essien's injury.

Good, solid, reliable player on sensible wages with proven premier league experience. All of this and he's on a free so if he ****s up..you kick him out.

This is a no brainer for just about every club in the top half except city who all ready have too many midfielders of his ilk.

You can guarantee 'arry will be sniffing around as well just because he is on a free....keep wheeling 'arry.

Exactly and everyone respects Tony Adams now, for the way he went about changing his life and Barton is doing the same.
