IMHO, it's not enough. Although the problem may be that we will find it even harder to get rid of a player who has a huge ban hanging over him. Who will want to buy a player who will be missing for nearly a third of the season? This is why we may not be able to get rid of him.

I'd settle for a 38-game ban for next season.

Shouldn't be paid for each week he is banned. Should go for all bans from physical attacks on another person from any player!! Why should any club have to pay a player who has complete disregard for his colleagues and employer!!

I don't know what his contract says, but surely this comes under "serious misconduct" and could warrant termination.

At least it will mean that he is stripped of the captaincy. You can't play the first quarter (or more) of the season with your captain sitting in the stands.

Surely there is some clause in players contracts which means they don't get paid if banned for certain offences. 10 games is probably around 8 weeks which for Barton in around 3/4 of a million pounds. It's ludicrous if we have to pay him that much money for him to sit on his backside and watch his team play.

Seems harsh to me. Hopefully he just gets a two game ban.

Does the ban still happen if we loan him overseas....Turkey, China....somewhere like that (loan him cause no one would buy him)

Beth any ban meted out by the FA in this country would have to be enforced anywhere that is affiliated to FIFA. So unless Darfur, Tibet or Vatican City want him we're lumbered.
