...for two matches following yet another yellow yesterday. Last time we were without him (through injury) the received wisdom was that our performances really suffered. Now we have just completed a run of very poor displays with him ever present. Will his ban make a difference? For the record I still see him as a liability in every game he plays and his poor passing is often very costly but I have no idea who can step into the breach. And his treatment at Derby where McClaren clearly set out to try to get him sent off was nothing short of disgraceful.
Agree with pretty much all of this. Notwithstanding his energy and effort he's seriously lacking in quality. Consistently gives the ball away.
Yes, he had a poor game yesterday, as did half of the team - they couldn't string two passes together. I feel really sorry for the guy with cancer who's big day it was.
I wouldn't. His son was on facebook saying what a great day he had. I think the result would only be the 'icing on the cake' for his day/experience rather than letting it spoil it.
I can't fault him this season. He's constantly played alongside piss poor footballers like Henry and Jenas and had to do the job of two players. He's never hidden and has had excellent discipline given the number of teams targeting him and referees booking him for fouls any other player would get away with.
How many times is this he's been banned this season now? We will have to go back to 3 central midfielders........maybe Carroll, Henry and Benayoun (although Harry will want Kranjcar in there somewhere).
I wonder whether the emotion of the day caught up with Joey Barton yesterday. He seemed distinctly quiet.
Joey didnt had his best day yesterday and one of the worst during the whole season. He was still in top 5 Of QPR players yesterday. Somehow i wonder if joeys could be a blessing. The possible transfer of Ravel Morrison could place him on Joeys place instantly .
I'd forgotten about Morrison!! Yep.........I'd put him in the midfield 3 playing in front of Carroll and Henry. (Hate to think what kind of strange line up Harry will come up with though).
