Got exactly what he deserved - although he does get a longer ban than Suarez did for his racist remarks to Evra.

    Fixed to be controversial <ok>

On topic, he shouldn't be allowed to play pro football again. I thought he'd turned a corner at Newcastle, but clearly he's back to where he started.

Actually he didn't get what he deserved - he deserves to go to prison

If he wasn't a footballer, Barton would spend half his life inside as he has an uncontrollable temper. In the real world, you wouldn't get away with hitting everyone you disagree with.

should have got more, he's a thug plain and simple, his family are cowards of which are doing time for both manslaughter & murder.
it seems he will follow in there footsteps

Before we castigate the vile behaviour of Barton we should remember that Tevez was the originator by having a go from behind. Barton retaliated and will suffer his due deserts. Tevez won his team a golden opportunity to gain the win which they eventually managed.

Too many players commit the first offence knowing that some players may snap and be removed. We all saw how Tevez sparked the incident but no action was taken against the slimy little runt.

Why? Might it be because Barton was the player he succeeded in annoying?

More fool Barton for reacting in the way he did. Mind you I do think that retrospective action should be taken for any incident that a referee hasn't spotted.

    Miss, he started it!

Football has had enough of Joey Barton. I hope the weasel never plays in the premier league again. He is not even that good a player.
Prutton got 10 games for pushing the Lino, so don't get fans claiming the ban is harsh taking into account the offences and his previous.

Yes, we can all say those things. More fool him, etc... But SFCBAG is correct, the instigator goes unpunished, and it's the very thing in football that we should be stamping down on. The cheats, the divers, the guys who start the rucks, knowing full well that it's worth the potential advantage gained. And so it proved. I don't condone Barton's actions for one second. But if Tevez hadn't done what he did, Barton wouldn't serving a 12 match ban. Cause and Effect. I suspect Tevez feels quite satisfied with himself. If he was a model of the footballer we want to see playing, he wouldn't be.

He can't have too many complaints. Tevez should get a ban too though.

He won't leave QPR, no-one would take him with that ban, unless Celtic fancied him on a free (the ban wouldn't apply in Scotland).

Funny world where a footballer can break players legs and get away with it whilst someone like Barton who has anger problems people get on his back and don't try to help him.

He said himself that he didn't lose his temper, it was a calculated act (at least two of the three were).

I heard him say that his team mates told him to retaliate so he could get one of their players sent off.

He's got anger problems, hasn't he?I'm pretty sure he has.

He actually said 'take one with me', not specifying whether he meant sent off or injured...

I have no problem with his ban of 12 games in fact you could argue the point it should be a whole lot more , it just annoys me that Tevez who kicked it all off gets away scot free
