  2. I feel bad for Joey, and would be happy if he got called up for England, but it's only a friendly, and this season we can't afford to lose Barton on a friendly with Denmark. Let us get through this season, and then push Barton for England. Heck i'll even push Nolan for England. Why not.

Aye, some of the people are talkin out their arse. I'd put him higher than lampard this season to be honest - one person said lampard has been better this season even though hes made just 11 prem appearances due to injury and barton has been consistent throughout the season.

Aye, I found another link about the diaby tackle with comments from arsenal fans slagging off Barton and then I found a comment that was so true "It was clearly a fair challenge, Check tiote got banned for a similar tackle, complete joke. If that was John Terry every fan and pundit in the country would be saying "oh, great challenge by a world class player etc. etc.".

Very True unfortunately. If he plays for England I can only see him getting better as it would give him so much confidence, however I do hold my breath ever so slightly every time he goes in for a challenge!

Joey Barton captaining England would be the best thing for the national side.

he's a competitive, skilled thug and a leader to those around him. How better can you define what England wants in its top players?

<laugh> Pard's said after the challenge when Diaby got up and reacted he said to himself quietly 'Please Joey...' <laugh>

Joey is my favourite player in a toon top, and i do think he has turned his life around. He is showing this on and off the pitch. But there is still that little voice in your head!

Joey was great against Arsenal, annoyed Arsenal players by not getting riled. Reminded me of Shearer vs Keane & Shearer vs Viera

Cracking player just hope he keeps his head for the rest of his career!
Can't take his passion and agression away from his game but needs to keep it in check!
It was only 2 months ago when Mortengate happened so we can't completely believe he's completely cured lol!
But the bloke does so much in the community and charity from the looks of it and has been fantastic for us!
