Barton: Arsenal have problems at the top

Joey Barton insists crisis club Arsenal have a problem at the top – with chairman Peter Hill-Wood not always knowing what is going on at the Emirates.

The QPR captain also believes the Gunners are deluded if they still think that they are part of the European elite.

Arsenal have “celebrated” *Arsene Wenger’s 15th *anniversary at the club by going into the international break in the lowly position of 15th in the *Premier League.

Only the bottom two teams – Blackburn and Bolton – have *conceded more goals this season than Wenger’s men.

And now Barton, 29, has added to their woes by claiming that *Hill-Wood was kept in the dark about a move for the former *Newcastle star by Wenger and *coaches Pat Rice and Steve *Rowley.

He said: “Peter Hill-Wood said they never had any serious *interest in me. I just don’t *understand.

“The dialogue *between him and his coaching staff has broken down so *severely that he doesn’t know what’s going on at his *football club.”

Hill-Wood claimed he knew of no attempt to sign Barton *during the summer.

But Barton – available on a free at the time after the Magpies had allowed him to look for another club – hit back by claiming he did hold talks with Wenger before joining QPR.

He added: “I don’t know (why Hill-Wood said that). Fair enough if I was claiming to sign for Real Madrid or Barcelona or Manchester City or Manchester United.

“But I don’t think it’s that big of a shout to say Arsenal were after me because it’s definitely a club in – what shall I say – transition.

“Financially, they have put themselves in a great position but I don’t know what’s happening there. I don’t understand.

“You look at Arsenal and you think, ‘Well, they obviously have an abundance of money’.

“Their stadium is almost paid for. I would say, financially, they are the most well-run club in the league, barring Manchester City.”

Barton takes no *satisfaction from the *Gunners being in disarray.

And he laments the fact their chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League took another blow when Bacary Sagna was ruled out until the new year with a broken leg sustained in last week’s defeat to Spurs.

“I watched them the other day,” he said. “It’s a very *different side from that great team they had with Petit and Vieira.

“If I was an Arsenal fan... well. But it’s nothing to do with me *because it’s not my football club – but, even so, I like to see those great English sides do well. I *remember watching the *Champions League and Arsenal against Olympiakos at home was a shoo-in, four or five-nil win for Arsenal. But they made hard work of it the other night.

“But this is the game we’re in.”

Why is Barton talking about Arsenal?
Wouldn't he be better off concentrating on the reasons for our poor performance last week?

Starting to give me the s**ts because he spends more time talking about other clubs than his own. He's having a subtle dig at those that didn't sign him and that worries me.

If he isn't a success at Rangers where else could he go - so he needs to make it work. Although seems so self-deluded he may not see it that way. I'm worried too.

****!! I'm really beginning to think Roller was right in his doubts over us signing Barton. He really needs to shut up and make a go of playing half decently for us!!

Agree. He won't get any interest from other Prem clubs unless he does an impressive 18 months+ performance with you (and behaves well during that time). I don't know how much you pay him, but I think you're probs his last big pay contract.

I have a lot more respect for guys like Derry - who shows real committment to your club and has grown through promotion with you.

Barton, if you read this then think:

Would've, should've, could've ...... all this crap doesn't wash with anyone. NOBODY IS INTERESTED in you anal fixations. Old news.

    1. You are now a QPR player.

    2. Despite what you say about England players ... your "form" is not good.

    3. Is there any chance of you playing football for QPR first and cultivating the "Bartion image" second?

    4. When you prove to me (and lots of other QPR fans) that you are what you think you are then maybe we will take you seriously.

    5. You are paid (notice I didn't say "earn") in a week more than most hard working supporters with ****ty jobs earn in a year.

    6. Put up - or shut up and **** off.

Every time I hear "Barton says" I begin to feel nauseous. I always thought the bloke was a scum-bag but now he's starting to grate as well. I can see why Shearer lost the plot with him.

If this article is a accurate and correct doubt everything nowadays
Then it's a reflection of a human being showing all the signs of having real issues ... I should know I openly have mental health issues.
He for me hasn't come close to being the dynamic midfielder he and NW thinks ... The standards are so low nowadays ... Ex players like Scholes , Veirra , Petit , Keane must piss themselves if they listen to him.
Most footballers are knobs let's be honest but JB has not done anything in his career yet to be identified with apart from violent conduct ... Think of one outstanding goal or a game? They don't exist there is little history
Ali Faurlin is in my book is way ahead of him on points .
He has to make an improvement soon please maybe the tests are about to come ... With big games coming

If he gets sent off, then in advance I will declare him a coward and a fraud
