Barton and Nolan at the sportsman dinner last night

Apologies for the length of this thread.

They didn't get that long to talk really only about 10mins between them, Barton done most of the talking as you'd expect and the audience did not get the opportunity to ask questions.

Barton:
Said that Shearer's team selections and tactics were wrong but he was ill advised by members of the team that ended up leaving us in **** (Owen, Duff ect)
Played through the relegation dog fight whilst having injections in his foot as metatarsal problems continued.
Regrets the Alonso tackle but he did not mention anything about the Shearer bust up only saying that they are now on speaking terms.
Said the biggest thing he has in common with Shearer and the other toon midfield legends at the talk in was that he only wants to play football for Newcastle United and has black and white through the veins now.
Joey said that in the relegation aftermath whilst suspended from Newcastle he was astonished that the players that went to the press claiming they were going to stick with the club and fight to get promotion ended up being the "spineless ****s" who ****ed off. The ones that didn't go to the press stayed.
During the second half of what is now the infamous friendly against Leyton Orient, Barton turned to Smith saying "this will be the best ****ing thing to happen to this club in years, can't wait to get rid of some of these useless ****ers". Although he absolutely tore into the players that left the club he praised without naming, the one's that stood up during the meeting after the O's friendly who said they wanted out of the club for having the bottle to stand up and say that.

Current situation.
As has been documented before, Joey says "If Nobby signs I sign. I'm not bothered about money obviously you naturally look for the best deal you can get but I love this club. Nobby has to stay though he is absolutely key and has been for the last 2years now. The goals he has scored have been incredible but hes far more important than just that." On signing a new contract he thinks he will end up living in the city for life.

Nolan
Echoed what Barton said about the relegation and Shearer affair.
Enjoyed the Championship winning season and is proud of leading the team to the turn around in fortunes since he arrived.
Feels honoured to be at the playing at the club and being captain he feels is an amazing achievment.
Hoping that his contract can get sorted out as soon as possible so he can fully focus on pre season. He should be fit enough to join the lads in America.
Unlike Barton though due to family reasons after he hopefully retires at SJP he will move back to Merseyside.

Neither of them mentioned Carroll directly although they praised the players that have stuck with the club the last two years more so this year to achieve the target of Premier League survival without actually being threatened by relegation. Although Barton feels we will be able to achieve further success and be pushing for trophies if them "stupid cocks stop fannying around up there" (Ashley and Llambiarse presumably)
A technique used was that Barton Nolan and Smith would collect negative paper cuttings the press would say about individuals and NUFC and stick them on a footy, the footy would then be passed around the dressing room pre match. Barton wants to beat West Brom and finish 8th or 9th to "Truly throw the **** that has been said back in the ****ers face"
They both heavily praised both Hughton and Pardew and are very impressed with the latter due to training and club meetings ect.

Barton and Nolan both said that they expect heavy investment to be made on the first team squad in the summer and Carroll to be replaced with 'quality' so we can push on from this season.

Lets hope they haven't been sold false pretences and we can actually push on in the right direction. Dedication to the cause like these two clearly have should only help attract players to the club and the harmony that now exists should continue but with a stronger squad capable of doing this great club justice.

Yeah I think your all right, I must have confused myself with talk of him signing a new contract. This is what further education does to young people like me! Can't think straight with all this ****ty commercial property laws/guidance.

Time for a pat on the backs lads...We all know we're good fans, we have a class home following and an even better away following, but this love affair that has grabbed players like Barton and Nolan - its not 'cause of the stability of the club, the the manager, the owners its purely down to us!

 

Nobby Solano was also there but he talks very quiet and his English isn't the greatest.

Rep for this, it sounds very familiar to what was posted on here ages ago though, in what we assumed was a fake interview?

 

Still really **** from what I could gather though he spoke about his sadness for Bobby and that he just loves the North East and Newcastle in particular. I think he wants to return as a coach in the future but I don't know if he ment Manager or just a general coach.
