Just been reading on Kent Online and I see this, I am not surprised that Fuller could be staying am personally I am quite happy that he could be staying he is a great player, only problem is his injury problems, but I am shocked that Weston may be back, he is a good player but has not performed well over the last 2 years and I would say no to him but if he was to prove himself and get back to his best that would be a yes all day but then that is if he could, we need players that we know will do well not ones where there is a small chance they could be good. http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kentonline/sport/2012/june/29/barry_fuller.aspx What are your thoughts, are you happy that Fuller could be staying and what about Weston, do you want him back if the new manager wants him?
The poll is open, it is multiple choice so if you want to keep one and not the other you can do that by selecting which one you want and don't want as I went with Fuller to stay and Weston to go. Have fun voting.
agreed fuller should stay on for another year hoadie, but to use the word GREAT so often as you do and for a league two gillingham player is a bit over the top mate and yes he's better than what others we have in fish & evans...so keep him for another year...unless the phantom manager has other ideas...LETS HOPE SO !
Maybe good, is a better word to use, I think it is just because I like the word great. I just hope that if Fuller does stay he don't get injured again as he has missed a lot of games since he has been at the club. A lot of people used to say that he is a poor player but we have seen this season that he is not that bad because of the problems we have had covering for him, he never seemed to be displaced out of the side when fit but we have played 4 or 5 at right back this season, Lee, Lawrence, Evans, Fish and Whelpdale once I believe but none of them held it down for longer than 10 games, Lee would of if he had not got suspended or injured I think though but we really want him in midfield with Payne, Whelpdale and Jackman. I think Fish did get better at the end of the season and may be decent in the future and also Evans is a prospect but I would much rather have Fuller at the back as he is experienced, also he was a better captain that Frampton and that is saying something as he was not the best captain.
I'd keep both, Weston over Fuller, personal opinion that Weston is a better player. Weston was doing ok last season until this McCammon thing came about then he seemed to be hit by split loyalties. The cynic in me says Scally is offering him a deal as a slap in the face to McCammon's case against the club as McCammon stated that Weston was also treated unfairly as he was black, if Weston accepts the offer then that surely goes against every McCammon has alleged, doesn't it? Get the right coach in and we could see the best of Weston again. I said at the end of the season that a change would be good for him (much like it was good for Crofts) but maybe that change is the change of manager and not a change of club. Fuller is probably the best recovering defender I have ever actually seen, but he has to be because he goes missing better than Lord Lucan. But I do like his desire and commitment he just needs to work on his spacial awareness at times. UTG
I would not tell Weston go now, he just has to prove himself a lot more than others in pre season in my opinion.
Weston proved to be a good impact player but his lack of consistency was a genuine problem. We know he's talented, looking back at some of the goals he has scored makes you think we're lucky to have him but until he performs a 7/10 for two consecutive games the money could be beneficial elsewhere. Fuller has proven to be a solid right back in his time at the club, hasn't been able to deal with the pacey or trickier wingers but I don't believe that anyone could question his work ethic on the pitch. If Hess was still in charge I think he would have been released, I always think that ex-captains never stick around too long after they have either their authority or role in the squad questioned. SO I think he'll go If I'm going to be honest with Frammo having a year left on his contract and a new manager coming in I'd prefer to let Lee lead, but that's a whole other package of squid.
Weston is potential the best player at the club, unfortunately he has been off the boil especially under Hess. I think part of the problem was Hess baffling decision to play Weston out wide. We saw the best of Weston in fits and starts last season when he was played in the middle, and if he is allowed to play there again I am sure he will be an asset for the club. Plus he has the best player song at the club!
if we could get weston back to his top form then there are few players in the club that can keep up with him, imagine him on form with lee in the centre of the midfield. to be fair he also hasnt benifitied from being shoved into different positions being moved to right midfield etc. for me he was always best played in the hole behind the strikers. anyways it only says that he has stated he'd like to come back not thats hes been offered a contract, which is good people that want to play in the shirt etc. personally id have them both back preseason and say to them prove your worth a contract, with fuller he just needs to prove he can still cut it after his injury and can stay fit for the season!
I agree with JokeyKid mean both players on form can be very useful to us, especially Weston. However both can suffer from incosistency and now with Fuller being out for so long with that injury can also raise questions. Invite both of them back for pre-season and let the new boss to make his own decisions on the pair of them. Also why he's at it he could invite Simon King back
would keep both at the club. Fuller is still a quality player and shouldn't of lost his captaincy to Frampton lat year. Weston is still class on his day and maybe being released will make him realise that he needs to play all the time, not just when it suits him.
