Peterborough Unitedâs director of football Barry Fry has hit out at QPR owners Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone for failing to back manager Neil Warnock in the transfer market. The two clubs appeared to have agreed a deal for Scotland striker Craig Mackail-Smith but that fell through. And Fry has slammed their treatment of Neil Warnock and the clubâs fans. He told talkSPORT: â[Craig Mackail-Smith] first of all met Neil Warnock with his agent, I mean I did a deal with Neil six weeks ago to be quite honest but [Flavio] Briatore and [Bernie] Ecclestone wouldnât back Neil, he canât even get a free transfer in, he canât even get a tea lady in. âTheyâre a disgrace those geezers at QPR in my opinion. If his owners donât back him Neil canât do anything. Heâs performed miracles to get QPR into the Premier League. He should have all the backing in the world and heâs had none at all, he hasnât signed anybody, heâs not been able to sign anybody. âI donât know whatâs going on there, the QPR fans donât deserve that. The price hike theyâve put on [tickets] is an absolute disgrace.â
if it was just a case of the goons not giving Neil any money, doesnt that leave Neil in an untenable position? that is unless there is a take-over in process and its just a matter of biding his time, till he gets the funds he deserves.
Odious little **** stirrer. Never really acheived that much and the only way he can get publicity is by slagging off another team. So which was it Barry? Was it A: Mackeral Smith didn't sign because Warnock couldn't give him an assurance that he would still be there come the start of the season. B. Ecclestone won't let Warnock spend any money. You've already changed your story once Barry, what are you going to say next week? If what you say about Ecclestone is true ... why did you lie about Mackeral Smith not signing because of Warnock's position? Nasty little sh*t.
But the two statements aren't inconsistent. Warnock might walk before the season starts if the Goons don't give him transfer monies. I don't like Fry either, but I agree with Bakes. Fry's right this time.
He's not slagging off another team, he's slagging off the owners. Dunno why your so keen to defend our s*umbag owners Eamon mate. Fry's just confirming what even the dogs on the street already know.

I don't see why both answers can't be correct sometimes the real truth comes out later than the initial responce. I happen to like BF he loves his football and is passionate about it says enough IMO.
Must admit I've always liked Barry Fry as well. A character, and it wouldn't surprise me if he was Warnocks unofficial spokesman, on this.
maybe neil spoke to him and they got greddy and asked for more money. then neil was told no we dont want to spend that much money on a player who plays in the third division. barry fry blames us and point out how bad we have been. if he was so great why has he gone to brighton and not a prem club. barry fry can go jump lazy w"£$%r
Are we surprised by what barry fry has to say we new this was happening all a long as long as tango & no cash are involved their will never be money available i ****ing hate the pair of them for what they are doing to our club.
I don't really have an opinion about Barry Fry... but I do know things ain't working at QPR and it can't be Warnock's fault. Wonder what's going on!!
Seems some disagree James, goes without saying as far as I'm concerned. Our owners are malevolent, and are very lucky to have ended up in the Prem, and should remember why.
