Apparently signing this week according to the rumours on twitter.

If we get Doumbia I will show my arse in fenwicks window, class player with an Olympic sprinters pace, would be perfect for our invest in Africa campaign, if and it's a big if, if it does happen maybe they could be paying partly towards this deal as he will break our transfer record I would imagine.

Posted about this on another thread Poolie, I've been hearing the Doumbia thing from all over the place, not press just talk, even a suggestion that our esteemed new sponsors were involved in the deal.

Like you, I can't see it, but ****ing hell mate, imagine if it happened, the lad is brilliant, and faster than a Geordie with a giro to cash <whistle>

    MoNsMush I totally agree!

IiA/Tullow Oil are giving us £20m a year and they said they want kids in Africa wearing Sunderland tops with the invest in Africa logo on the front.

At the minute we have Sess who is fantastic but Benin are not one of the top footballing countries over there so I wouldn't be surprised if part of the 20m a year we are getting is for us to go out and bring in a top African star for our and IiA's campaign to become more well known around Africa.

I very much doubt the majority of Africans will of heard of Bardsley and Larsson but they will know who Seydou Doumbia is

Yep Seydou Doumbia of CSKA, I would post a link of him from YouTube but I cannot on my phone, his record is top class as well.

This is it mate, exactly right on the Sess thing.

Yes, he's a highly thought of and loved player on the continent, but the natives are never gonna see him on the world stage, an Ivory Coast, Ghanaian, Cameroonian, Nigerian etc is what's needed.

When your talking next level , a player like Doumbia is jumping 2 , maybe 3 levels!

    Comm,

Definitely Seydou, no mix up here!

I will make love to my hand if it happens.

Actually, I'll do that anyway, but I'll do an extra.

I personally don't rate Bannan, but I know a lot who do, I just don't see how we'd need him, especially if N'Zonzi is true (which I think is the case).

My lasses dad, who has a football knowledge I am in awe of right down to grass roots, thinks Bannan is gonna be top drawer.

Think he is far far far far far better than us

This would be a coup if it was anything under £15 mil

I'd be really surprised if you got him.

He's at CSKA so he's probably on 80k+ a week, plus he's at a club in Europe.

He could definitely go to a CL club.

he is very good mate and even though we have had some good strikers over the last few years in Jones, Cisse, Bent, Gyan and Welbeck maybe Bendtner as well IMO this lad is better than all of them and if we got him it would show that the club mean business.

The thing is I hope we get a good CM and Winger still as we still need improvements in those areas to add more pace and creativity.
