Mr John Seager on Twitter is expecting Barrett and Davies to move on to make way for another CB. Wouldn't be surprised to see either go if I'm honest. Adam is getting slower and Taylor obviously doesnt rate Davies MrJohnSeager ‏@MrJohnSeager
Vinney I just read the tweets you were on about and it's just the guys opinion. He's not put anything on there to suggest he's got anything to back that up at all.
I still keep wondering if Inniss is coming in or whether its just via his tweets he enjoys keeping contact with his old mates. His profile is still showing a Gills profile pic, but some players do keep the old profile for a while. As for Davies would like to see him stay and in regards to Barrett, time to move the arm band on to another player, new team, new leader. But like Gills PegLeg would point out it's just this guys opinion.
Remember shortly after Barrett arrived and he did that overhead clearance off the line? It's a shame to see someone with us who has such heart in his play leave. If he goes I would imagine an emotional return to our friends at Roots Hall would be of the cards.
Without wishing to seem ungrateful I really wouldn't miss either of them. Barrett is committed but lacks the pace to make up for some of his errors and can definitely be seen to be the weak link in our defense. Davies seems to be the most overrated player in our current squad, a lot of people deem him good enough to play in the first team despite several managers coming and going with non of them really ever fancying him enough to give him a regular first team birth, it can be argued that we will never really know how good he is until he is allowed a chance but the coaches that see him everyday in training clearly differ. I have always viewed him as a weaker version of Essam who was a victim of his own ego and without the departure of Essam maybe we wouldn't even have Davies at the club currently. I am aware I may be being too harsh but we were ruthless with the players whose contacts expired maybe we should be ruthless with those still under contract who aren't quite good enough.
Some very good points made in the last couple of posts and gillslad69 is right to point out the spectacular goal line clearance that Barrett made. So much so it received tremendous rapport from the home crowd and despite my views at times, no one can take that away from him. In regards to Essam and Davies, it is a difficult one for me, I always felt that Essam was the one who should have retained position. However, Davies was also young and MA had given him his backing by contract and selection. So i fell into line and supported the managers judgement and rightly Davies' position as would be expected. It then eventually was to leave a sour taste with me, despite us conceding the worst goals against in L1, Davies' was not being selected and when he was he made one mistake and got slaughtered for it. To me that sucks and i stood by him as a fair minded supporter, MA decided Davies' was good enough, the supporters backed MA's judgement, so why would we change that judgement without fair appliance the same as the other CB's were given during our L1 season. PT might decide Davies' no longer fits with the new structure, which is fair enough, I would rather accept that as a more balanced judgement rather than a critical one.
Davies might get back into the team after all http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kent/sport/davies-to-be-given-time-20012/ shows how much that so called reporter knows then.
Agree, it never made sense to me dumping Davies, Martin Allen praised the lad, hence giving him a contract, why would all that suddenly change when the lad has not been given fair and equal opportunity in the starting line up. PT according to the media was openly critical of sorts about Borrowdale so why would he not be about Callum if the lad was doing badly in training. At least this media report appears to clarify the situation a bit better now, supposedly in the words of PT and the reasons he never played him. So much for CD's critics eh because of one mistake, I'm glad i judge players over more than one game. Don't let me down Callum. By the way none of this is to the detriment of Legge, who i also like, it's merely about players being competitive and if its a level playing field may the best player win, that then benefits the club and the supporters.
