South Yorkshire plod are normally much more relaxed than our lot, I can't remember us ever having a restriction on numbers or daft kick-off times enforced on us at Barnsley or Sheffield(though I do remember one Barnsley game that had ridiculously heavy handed policing). It looks like there might be more too this, I wonder if the Dutch OB have got wind of something and recommended this?
I have got to admit that knowing the reputation of Feyernoord fans in their own country, from a few years ago, I was surprised that this fixture was ever arranged. Maybe has OLM suggests, Rotterdam plod advised against going ahead. Hence no more friendly game....
There has been a bit of trouble in the past. Ajax fans call the Feyenoord supporters "cockroaches" or something like that.
I remember once being chased by half a dozen police horses across that slag-heap behind the away fans end. Maybe there is more, but why not come out and say it?
There was one Barnsley game where they designated an away pub, it was about a mile from the ground and all the coppers were sending everyone up there. At the pub, there was another bunch of coppers turning everyone back again. And they wonder why fans get pissed off.
P+O NSF are not happy as this will cost them thousands. But yes it appears that word has come over the North Sea of impending trouble. Barnsley sat and Hull tuesday. What do those dutch fans do between games eh ? Throw in idiots from Hull Leeds and Sheffield, No wonder the tour is off. Shame but understandable.
