They are losing at the minute, so how many Sunderland supporters will go this afternoon if they lose, I will but snowing at the moment !. Chris said in the echo only us Barnsley, Burton and Brum are fighting for 4th bottom, but Reading, Bolton, Sheff w will be involved also to me.
If Sunderland have to finish above any of Reading, Bolton or Shef Wed then you're relegated. They are all getting 40+ points and irrelevant to you guys. Barnsley and Brum on 33 each with 8 games to go, you'd expect one of them to get to 40 points (7 points in 8 games) so Sunderland probably need 40 at least to stay up. 12 points in 8 games (win 3, draw 3, lose 2 or win 4 lose 4) - I just don't see it, today I gave up expecting an escape but hope I'm wrong.
It would take a miracle now for us to stay up, and sadly, I cant see it happening, the squad is all wrong, and recent tactics too cautious for us to stand any chance even with this squad, Lack of investment and injuries have compounded the dreadful recruitment records of our past managers. Only the Big lads Sam and Dick can be said to have bought well, in Shorts tenure, and both couldn't wait to get away for one reason or another, hence the mess.
We're not going to get a miracle now. Previously we had players who wanted to make a miracle, this lot just aren't bothered. Just look at Prestons 2nd goal. 6 defenders in the box , 2 attackers. Scorer (yet again) a free header. One attacker unchallenged by any of three defenders who were all 2 yards from him - making no effort to get near him or the ball. In fact , it looks like Kone is trying to move forward to make sure the ball clears him to absolve him from the responsibility of jumping for it.
Still can't fathom how Short thought that this result for Sunderland is more lucrative for him than spending to improve the team and fight for promotion.
