Barnsley 1st game of the season, a 1-0 win over Middlesborough, Earned them a first home win since March, Since then they have suffered back to back losses, and ironically have conceded 8 goals in 2 games, Recent games between the 2 sides have led to a goal fest, and with Bristol city scoring freely and barnsley's poor defending, It has everything in store to be another high scoring game. Pearson to build on home form "It's going well so far, the boys are high in confidence. We have had two really good games at home and want to continue that against Barnsley," Pearson told Bristol City Player. "There has been a lot of changes since I came to the club in terms of personnel. The manager has brought in his own players and we are all working together to ensure this season is a good one. "We have got to try and play the way we have at home. The team have created a lot of chances so far and want to continue that. "Expectation is always high when you come to a club like City. But we are just looking forward to the next challenge. "It is always good if everyone is scoring goals not just the strikers, we all must contribute throughout the course of the season. "If we get a positive result against Barnsley, it will set us up nicely going into the international break."
McInnes on Barnsley, Transfers and Dean Gerken "On that day we rode our luck at 1-1 after a good first half and ended up getting a very good win at the death, so something similar would be ideal," McInnes told Bristol City Player. "I don't care how we win, whether it's the first minute or the last, I'd just like to come back with three points. Hopefully we can carry that edge at the top end of the pitch into the game. "On the back of the last couple of performances you're eager to go again and the players are exactly the same regardless of the opponent, home or away. "The international break can be the longest two weeks going if you don't get a win. Any time you go and win three games on the spin is difficult, but we've given ourselves a chance to do that. "Barnsley will be looking at it saying if they beat us they will be level on points, and everyone's been saying what a good start we've had, so it can quickly change. "People were tipping us as relegation favourites only ten days ago, which just shows how fickle it is, so we can't take too much notice of what other people are saying. Nobody's getting carried away here." The manager refused to rule out making one more addition in the transfer market before the window slams shut tomorrow night, also stating there had still been no bids for any City players and "does not want anybody to leave". Meanwhile, McInnes revealed Dean Gerken would again miss out on a place in the squad but should be fit again for the Blackburn Rovers home game in two weeks' time.
If we can't beat a team in termoil that is plagued with injuries then we are not nearly as good as the last 2 results might suggest. 0-2 for me.
If this match was not only the fourth of a new season and as DMc said, if we lose after what everyone City fan is thinking is a good start, Barnsley will be level on points with us after an indifferent start. So is it a MUST WIN game? I think it could be as this result may determine how our season goes.
Team for today..... Bristol City FC ‏ #BristolCity v Barnsley: Heaton, M.Wilson, Carey, Fontaine, Cunningham, Adomah, Skuse, Pearson, Woolford, Stead, Baldock
Finally baldock starts :-D lets hope if shows us what he's made of A little upset that fosters not in the team, rate him over Wilson
Sounds like one of those days when we could've played all day and not scored a goal.. 6 points from a possible 12 aint a bad start at all.
It may not have made any difference but i would have gone with Taylor rather than Stead up front as lets face it taylor has started two games this season where we have scored 8 goals as he is more of a threat and target man. Stead works hard, he will play deep and get wide which in the mean time we are limited up front in the middle. If u want the best out of baldock u need someone which will help him get some space and think taylor is that person. As for city in general 6 points from 4 games is pretty good and better than other people would have thought we would be doing. Just remember when we got to the playoff final it was on solid home games and poor away games
I got to agree with Andyandy. Taylor is in my eyes a better hold up player, when he came on they could not knock him off the ball. Stead works hard but if you were to work out how many times he wins in the air compared to Taylor you will see Taylor wins. Taylor and Baldock to start with Davies playing in Pearsons position for me next time please. I've said this on another thread, we didn't play bad yesterday it was nothing like last year. Albert had a bad game simply because he never took anyone on whether he was carrying a knock or just low on confidence, I don't know. But we were not last season's shambles we still pushed forward they defended strong, unfortunately in a neutrals eyes Barnsley looked more likely to score simply because we pushed forward and they caught us on the break a few times. But I looked through my eyes they were lucky to hold on, just wished Baldock stayed on. Or Davies hit the target with one of his two headers. When he was free in the box, but from the other end of the pitch could not see how close or far he was away from goal. AS SAID WE ARE NOT THE SAME AS LAST SEASON SO ALL GLOOM AND DOOM IS NOT RETURNING.
