I've read so many comments suggesting Barnsley will be a walk over... It's usually from posters who want Watford to win or draw (for some crazy reason) so that we can celebrate after 90 minutes through our own victory. I can't understand why, or where the confidence is coming from.

    It's not so simple...

    Pros:

If we play our best, we'll be very comfortable for the win.
    It's not televised.
Our away form is pretty decent.
None of our fans will be moaning at the players for every little slip up.
The week we've had between games should be a bit of a rest for the players.
We'll know before we play, what we need out of the game (pro or con).

    Cons:

We've not played anywhere close to our best for a while now.
Barnsley are fighting for their lives at the bottom and will surely turn up with grit and determination with just two games to go.
We're poor against the bottom teams.
We lack goals and haven't scored for two games.
I can't think of a single time this season when we've gotten a result after conceding first. Suggests a lack of mental strength?
Barnsley are a bit of a bogey team.
Potentially all eyes will be on us.
I don't know if all of the team are coping with the pressure.
We'll know before we play, what we need out of the game (pro or con).
Many of our players have looked tired recently.
We've looked like a different team since Bruce got injured... No mettle in the middle.

Please feel free to add to that list, preferrably with some pros, but at the moment there's plenty of reason to feel nervous rather than confident as far as I can tell. I'm hoping that the above either won't matter thanks to Leicester or that we at least see an encouraging performance, even if we don't get the three points.

    Thoughts?

Pretty much agree with that. Mate of mine at work is a Barnsley fan, he reckons we'll have more fans there than they will and that as far as they're all concerned, they're already down.

To be honest, and this is no disrespect to Barnsley, if we can't beat them whatever the Watford result Friday we don't deserve to finish 2nd.
Forget the rest of the season it means nothing, if we bottle it now then Watford deserve it more than us.
We will win on Saturday anyway so whay did I post this???
Leicester will win by the way, Woods will score.

Let's hope their players feel like that too!

I'd have said the same playing at home against an already relegated Bristol with by far the lowest points in an otherwise tight league. I think Watford will also score.

You're right though. Whoever finishes second deserves it more. The table doesn't lie.

Not sure who it is, but he mentioned someone he considers a key player (Not Scotland) who is injured and suggested without him, they'd be awful. However, we've seen how we do against awful teams!

    Pro's

We are second in the league.
We average more points away in our last twenty away games than Barnsley do in their twenty home games.
We know one win is enough, Barnsley don't.
We will have 5,000 fans singing us on.
We will have a better idea after Fridays result of what we need to do.

I have to admit i am just trying to keep myself positive!

We go better fresh and should be relatively well rested for this game which should see us right. I saw Quinny in the local paper going on about the 100million or whatever that promotion means and to be honest I wasn't that impressed with him bringing the finances into the equation,if anything makes people nervous its the thought of money especially with regards to the owners. The SKY footage showed Papa Allam shaking his head and looking rather disgruntled last time out so lets hope that money isn't factoring into the players heads too much.

That's the thing about fans, some are upbeat all the time, some aren't, predictions and forecasts can be right, or wrong.

In my office there's 2 Derby fans who mostly just hate Forest, any game they win against Forest is seen as a massive highlight, 1 Swans fan who hates Cardiff and thinks they'll implode financially next season, the Barnsley lad who's been depressed for last 2 months and there's a few MK fans of course too who are mostly just angry about everything. Makes for some interesting debates at times.

The Brizzle fan is a mate outside of work, and in all honesty, we should have beaten them. His comments were a reflection on what he'd seen this season and anger at the performances, he was as surprised as some of us about how they played.

The Barnsley fan is bound to be negative and assume they're fooked, I don't blame him for that. Personally I think their team will be fighting to stay up, and they'll be very attacking, hopefully that will play into our hands as long as we don't concede any goals. I think it's likely to be a nervous game for both sets of players (unless we're up already).

Part of the reason I'm so nervous is I just don't know which of our players will turn up and perform as they should, I'm putting my trust in both Steve B and the players to do what's needed.

IF Both teams play to there best HULL CITY WILL WIN.

For Barnsley to have any chance they need Hull City to be as bad as we where against Wolves and Brizzle last week.

The league table does not lie. <ok>

Jacob Mellis is their potent threat, he can run the show in midfield if given the chance. Perkins is half decent as well so we will have to toughen up or they will get the ball forward very quickly. So says my Barnsley supporting cousin.
