Should our players realise they're playing football and decide to actually play well in the replay against L'Orient, we would be at home to currently managerless Barnsley. I know the League should be the main priority, the Cup's just extra matches on an already busy fixture list etc etc, but this is a great opportunity to get to the 'Business End' of the competition. I honestly think we are due a decent bloody Cup run as reward to us fans who have endured the drab we've witnessed in the more recent Cup games. (Crawley, Macclesfield, L'Orient etc). It can only benefit the belief of the players and the teams currently still in, are beatable IMO. I'd go for the Cup this year. Quarter-Finals would be suffice.
The league has got to be the priority and judging by the performance on Saturday, with the players we have got, too many of the first team would have to play to get us any chance of quarters or semis. This would increase the likelyhood of injuries and possibly de-rail our promotion push.
Maybe our reserve team can take us all the way to wembley..... They've already got us to London so they're headin in the right direction
glass half empty: it's not the most attractive tie, it distracts from the league. glass half full: like Orient, it's winnable, helps momentum, builds confidence, potentially generates revenue... (there are probably Orient and Barnsley supporters saying the same things).
We've already got the Derby game to rearrange, we can do without having to rearrange the Charlton game as well.
