BBC Points West just showed the goals & handball/penalty decision.

How that was not a penalty I dont know.

I thought it was a penalty at the time but wasnt 100% sure. I heard someone say it was a header over the bar but the players position made it look like his hand but also heard others says 100% certain it was a handball.

But the highlights clearly shows the Barnet player handball it and also shows the ref with a clear view of the incident and shows him making his decision very quickly to award the penalty. How on earth did he allow himself to be convinced to check with the linesman??? What a shocking decision to withdraw the penalty and just give a corner!

Until the highlights come out for us to view, here is a clip I found from the blackthorn end of the incident....

If you look at the handball clip again, you will see the ref award the penalty. Then you will see the linesman stand in the right position ready for the penalty. This means the linesman didnt flag to get the refs attention saying it wasnt a handball. This therefore means the linesman actually went along with the ref's decision to award the penalty. So the linesman either seen the handball or didnt see the incident and went along with the ref.

So how could the ref who awarded the penalty (because he seen the incident and BBC points west shows the ref have a great view of it), change his mind after speaking with his assistant who either seen it as a handball or didnt see it at all? One of the worse penalty decisions I have witnessed.
 
Should have been a pen and a red card. Dreadful decision by the officials.

That aside it looked like our best performance of the season and I ****ing missed it <wah>
 
At the time it looked like it was clearly a header (I stand in the Dribuild terrace) and most of the people around me seem to agree. Looking at that video Togwell's arm is definitely up, but whether it, rather than the head, made contact with the ball is open to debate. It all happened very quickly so I'm keeping an open view on things.

Anyway, great piece of athleticism and we did win after all, so it didn't matter in terms of the result.

lets say you are correct and it wasnt handball.....
*the ref still awarded the penalty.
*the lineman agreed as went to his correct position ready for the penalty to be taken.

so if the ref gave it and the linesman agreed, how did the ref come to the conclusion and say no penalty?

if he had doubts then he shouldnt have awarded it in the 1st place. he should have had a chat with the linesman and if enough doubt between them then no penalty. fair enough. but to award the penalty then change his mind showed he cocked it up.

yes it didnt effect the result in the end but if we hd the penalty and scored, we could have ended up winning by a bigger margain. the momentum may have given us more goals and that could help our goal difference. also we pushed for the winner. we may have not used up so much energy if we were given that penalty. now we could be 'tired' for the welling game, if that makes sense <ok>
 
Blatant handball. If you lead with your arm on the goal line things should only go one way.

Ref played a shocker on that decision.
 
Sitting in the West Stand, Blackthorn End, I was 100% sure it was handball.
However listening to DC's post-match interview driving home I'm sure he said that
although he too thought it was handball and initially had a go at the referee
the players then told him it was indeed a header and he felt that the referee
had got it right.
I'd like to see the Barnet goal. I hope it was a deflection 'cos Mildenhall was playing
statues as it dribbled past him!

the barnet goal is up on the youtube sticky thread if you havent come across it already <ok>
i thought DC only said what he said about it not being handball just to play it down as we won anyway. the players on twitter say it was 100% handball and blissett himself seems like he has been done over by the ref.
