The Barnet chairman thinks football league sides should play more friday and monday night games. Would everyone like to see more night games at Priestfield or would it lower the attendances?

the only thing i would say to this is if it gets more games from the lower leagues on tv say 2 games from each team or something then its only gonna increase revenue so why not but otherwise i think you only have to look at the difference between a sat and a tues no matter who were playing and you've got your answer as it wont be worth it due to loss in revenue

I don't think this would be good as this would normally mean less gates as we get less on Tuesday night games than Saturday games, No change in my eyes, Better to have weekend games, would not mind Sunday games,.

It's fairly obvious that the reason the Barnet chairman wants Monday / Friday night games is because of the close proximity of Arsenal and Spurs ( playing quite attractive football ) having an effect on attendances - plus going shopping on a Saturday afternoon might be preferrable to watching Barnet.

Yeah, he sees that it would be good for him, which is not the case for many clubs,.

Currently Monday and Friday evening games would not suit me, just stop messing about with tradition and leave it alone.

As brb said, it's tradition in this country to go to the football on a Saturday afternoon. I know a few Chelsea season ticket holders that HATE evening/Sunday games, but they have to go otherwise the price they pay for the season ticket would turn into a monumental waste.

30+ years ago Stockport used to play on Friday nights because it was believed that attendances were suffering because of the two big Manchester clubs. I can't remember why they went back to Saturdays, but seem to recall the FL had something to do with it.

However in those days the cost of going to a football match was relatively much less than it is these days, and it would have been affordable for the average supporter to watch Stockport on Friday night, and then go to another match on Saturday. These days, however, I think that cost would be a big factor, and I think the number of people that could afford two top 4 tier matches in a weekend would be relatively few.

As jokeykid says, if there is potential TV revenue then it might be a plan, but other than that I can only see lower attendances for Friday or Monday matches.

Sunday matches might be worth considering though.
