A disappointing 94th minute goal for the bloke who has scored 5 goals in 2 games against us now. Very peed off. Thoughts?
Mccload just cost me over 2 grand on an accumulator, if he didn't score at all!! never mind the injury time goal i would be £2340 richer, sorry (BRB) but **** it!!
man is certaining a pain in the arse but we can only blame ourselves for conceding a soft free kick and then having 3 players going up and none of them clearing it properly. plus in my mind he was always gonna be the threat so why we didnt have someone shirt tight to him for that set piece i dont know
Absolutely.........5 goals in his last two games against us!! I just wonder if the message MIGHT creep through in time for the return match?? Apart from that, if we'd had this start last season we'd have been promoted. There are one or two surprising results going through already, and I know the season is still in its infancy however.............. I suspect that the teams making the pace by mid season might not be the old 'faithfuls' or the bigger names. Crawley are no surprise given their investment, however some of the less fashionable teams seem to be making a good start.
As Windy was hinting at, as disappointing as conceeding a last minute goal was, lets not let that overshadow a very respectable start to the season, if we were offered 7 points off the first three games who here among us would have turned that down?
only worry is how we are finishing games. we held on desperately against cheltenham and then again against crewcrewe so finally conceding at the death wasnt a major suprise. From the commentary it sounded like barnet bossed much of the game too. could be a very tight division. like everyone else very happy with 7 points but thats tempered by the fat that weve not played any of the decent teams yet, and average teams have had us under a lot of pressure.
True enough, we didn't finish the game well. At the time I put that down to just trying to hang on to our lead (for which we dropped too deep too early in my opinion). I wonder if our energetic tactic of closing the opposition down all over the pitch is taking its toll on our players, and making them tired by the end of matches? Still, 7 points from 3 games (including 2 away from home) - more of the same please Gills!
I only heard the radio comentary and watched the highlights on the beeb and it was disappointing to lose those two points so late. But there are definitely some positives to take: First is that both goals were brilliant, Spiller's simple but great and Payne's was just awesome! Kedwell seemed to have a good game and come close quite a few times, especially from headers. Only one card (unsurprisingly for Lawrence!) which is a definite improvement on the last 3 games, although how much that has to do with the ref I'm not sure. Oli sounded like he played well when he coem on but probably gave away a few too many free kicks. On the other hand, last time Hess was in charge we had a tendency to drop back early to defend our lead which usually let the oppo pile the pressure on. Hopefulyl it won't become habit again although another striker holding the team's shape, pulling us further up the pitch could help. But as has been said, if offered I would happilly have haken 7 from 3 and 3rd in the league if you'd asked 2 weeks ago!
