I’ve just listened to Barmby’s post match interview on the BBC website, which was a little worrying to say the least. I didn’t realise you built from the front, surely a team should build from the back. Plus, Fryatt is one of our best players, but gets little service, hence the lack of goals. He did ok last night. Why does Barmby not play King as the main strker, with Fryatt playing off him? King is a big fella and seems strong and could hold things up.

Plus, I’m not convinced Simspon, Stewart (- woeful in the games I’ve been to), etc., can fill Koren’s role and with Koren absent, surely we should have different formations to fit the players that we do have fit and as someone else mentioned, a Plan B and C.

I really want Barmby to succeed, after all he was a top England player and is ‘one of our own’. I do think it will take time for him to learn and I hope he gets that, along with the support he needs from us the fans , the media and at the club. I hope Wigley and the others will encourage a broader tactical view of ‘the system / formation’. I enjoy seeing City play attractive football, but here also has to be a fall back position when this is not working and the opponents offer different problems to deal with.

I was at the game last night and was thoroughly disappointed with how we played, the subsequent response, i.e., the way we capitulated and the lack of fighting spirit.

    A couple of other observations:

1 Why do stewards cram everyone into one tier and are then such ‘job’s worths’ not allowing people to move. Why do they not have discretion to allow people to move / spread out? This is an accident waiting to happen.

2 The Portsmouth support was superb. 14,500 + made a great noise throughout.

    UTT!

Think you will fin Nick was answering Burnsie point about Fryatt not having any service. What he was meaning was it is Fryatt's job to make the runs to provide an option for the player on the ball to pass. In other words he was having a thinly veiled dig at Fryatt for not moving enough when he doesn't have the ball.

Not Nicks fault that they were so poor. Most of them looked like Little Bo Peep who had lost her sheep.
