Having read a lot of reports and posts re Citys 2-0 win over Derby and then looking at the team he chose, its hard to see what influence he had over the game other than Cameron Stewart playing. So who had the greater influence Barmby or Stewart?
Strange question but the manager takes over all responsibility whether we win, lose or draw! Obviously Cameron had a major part to play on saturday but it is a team game and Barmby manages the team! The answer to your question is Barmby
He might not have changed personnel, but going from what people who were at the game have been saying Barmby's influence was: Fryatt looked rejuvenated. Koren was much more influential in what was effectively a free role. Stewart played. The whole team's attitude reflected Barmby's attitude when he comes on as a sub. (and possibly a few other things I've not included)
both played there part. but the whole team did there bit. a 100% team effort and NB just gave them licence to express and enjoy themselves. More of the same and the KC will be full very soon. Maybe 3rd dec 2011 for starters.
Stewart wasn't at his best by any means, he only got time and space to run a couple of times but was devestating the one time he got going and scored. By no means did he win us the game, the commitment and attitude of the players did (along with a large helping of attacking quality).
not bad though for someone who has just sat out the last 9 months and only played 2 reserve games since Ipswich away last season. CS will only get better.
Barmby was always going to be a steady the ship, continuation type of appointment, especially in the players eyes. I never thought too much would change in the immediate period. For this reason the REAL test for Nick Barmby will come more in the medium term. The first element of that is January. Who will he try to sign (either permanently or on loan) and how will he fit tem into the current squad both psychologically and tactically. At that point Barmby will change the status quo and THAT will be the real test of his abilities both as a coach and as a manager. One thing I am hoping is that the appointment of Nick Barmby increases the chances of Adam Pearson staying on as he is definitely needed right now what with inexperienced owners AND inexperienced manager.
well live on Radio Humberside on saturday, Adam Pearson told Burnsie that he was going nowhere and the rumours were laughable. the same bit / piece was also played this morning @ 8.25am on the sports news. So you can relax on this issue. Adam seams far more relaxed and happy now than he has for ages. After doing the hard work surely its time for him to enjoy the good work.
Only watched the first half so far, but was impressed with the lads playing as a joined up team. There did not seem any link up problems form defence to midfield to up top. And, although the team at the moment just about picks itself, we will know Barmby's ability if injuries kick in and he has to improvise (especially in mid match), and then as mentioned above in January with the chance to strengthen.
