Although I am not in favour of Barmby being our next manager he seems to be better than Pearson at dealing with the media. See the last sentence of the link: "Barmby declined to comment on the possibility of him succeeding Pearson as first-team boss after the reserve team clash with Gateshead at North Ferriby last night." http://www.thisishullandeastriding....-exit-payout/story-13806466-detail/story.html Barmby didn't have to say anything so he didn't. Pearson would have babbled away with complete nonsense.
But the manager who says nothing to the media gets ripped apart on here because they dont babble away and tell us everything that we're entitled to know, according to a LOT of posters on here... So I got this right: NP for not wanting to talk to the media = dour miserable twat, and Barmby for not saying anything to the media = a shining example of how to deal with the media? Ok thanks!
You seem to be too worried about what other people think of you rather than being true to yourself. When Pearson was being asked about the Leicester job he would have already known about their interest but he wouldn't want to let the media know. What should he have said? He was interested? Instead he babbled on saying all sorts of things that didn't make sense. Barmby will be interested in the job but he might expect the club to ask him first. What should he do? Announce that he's interested before mentioning it to his employers? Who says we are entitled to know what Pearson was thinking? Things were at a delicate stage and telling the media everything seems a bad idea. Criticising Pearson for not telling us everything seems as stupid as thinking he shouldn't seriously consider swapping jobs for quadruple the money (taking into account the money going to be paid to him next May).
Stating NP knew he was going to request to appproach LCFC is pure speculation. You really do not know that. For you all you, or I know, on Saturday, he didnt know what the hell was going on, or what he was going to do, and being asked inane questions, twice, by a muppet like Burnsy would be irratating to the point you'd respond like he did. Im not defending him btw, whilst Im happy to acknowledge what hes done for us, he's burnt his bridges for me and cant wait to see him sod off, at great expense to LCFC. What I find baffling is there's a lot of ****e posted on the internet, and it never fails to amaze me the "omgz its on the internet so it much be true!" mentality some people have. Almost as much as people making statements as fact, when in fact, they're not. I certainly wasn't critisizing him for saying nothing, I liked his way with the media, they're mostly scum. I was being slightly tongue in cheek in my post... I hope Barmby does end up as a deputy manager to someone like McLaren or Joyce.

That’s not how football works. “I hope Barmby does end up as a deputy manager to someone like McLaren or Joyce.” I’d go for McLaren. He’s made mistakes but I think he could do a good job for us.
I would like McLaren but think we will go for a cheaper option! Only a rumour but I've heard Mark Robins is on the shortlist
It does seem as if they are going for the cheaper option according to the newspapers. I would have thought it would have been better to match Leicester's deal but there may have been other deciding factors.
No way should we have matched Lesta's offer, basically because it is ludicrous. Think NP knew for some time what was on the table; also Lesta hung him out to dry a bit by delaying the final approach. He wiggled, he squirmed, but he had that pot of cash vision to keep him going. No wonder he was snappy with Burnsy, a "classic" example of a bad tempered person under pressure. Of course Burnsy had to ask him "the question". Quite amusing really, what a saga.
I know £2m (plus the rest of the management team) between now and May seems a lot but what's likely to happen in January? If we go for a cheap option and it doesn't work what is going to happen at the end of the season? I would go for McLaren. He should be eager to get on the horse again without costing too much.
Fully agree. Now is not the time for a gamble. You do that when you have nothing much to lose. We have a crack at the play-offs now and a manager with experience in that environment is what we need, Jones would be my shout, but there are a few to chose from.
