So, he's not sending Robbie packing back to United in disgust at his appauling behaviour and he doesn't think he is shyte! Good Management by Nick Barmby. Hard luck Brady-outers, you'l have to pick on someone else! Robby Brady - Gamechanger! HULL CITY: Brady will learn from red card, says Barmby NICK Barmby wants to see Robbie Brady learn from his mistakes after the winger escaped a four-match ban for a second red card in three weeks. Hull City's on-loan star was dismissed for violent conduct in the reserves' 2-2 draw with Sunderland but thankfully benefited from a recent change in the FA's disciplinary procedure. Brady will now only serve a three-match ban for non first-team football from January 3, clearing him to feature in the final two games of his existing loan from Manchester United against Middlesbrough on Boxing Day and Burnley on New Year's Eve. Barmby admits the boost has come as a relief but insists the incident will not affect his plans to extend Brady's stay at the KC Stadium into 2012. "Fortunately for us it looks as though we've got away with it, but it's all a learning curve for Robbie and he will learn from it," said Barmby. "Robbie can become a top player, I genuinely believe that. "Hopefully, it's with us because there's not many Robbie Bradys about who can change games. "We're still speaking with Man United. We're not going to sit here and say 'We're definitely going to get Robbie Brady' because that would be disrespectful. "They know how we feel and they know we want Robbie but it's not decision unfortunately. If it was, he'd be here." Barmby has made no secret of his desire to extend Brady's loan from Manchester United, but the Mail understands a permanent transfer cannot yet be discounted. Cameron Stewart and Corry Evans both made such a step after successful loan spells from Old Trafford, but Barmby was giving little away. Asked if a permanent deal could be in the offing for Brady, he said: "We need to sit down but until Man United give us the green light, we can't really talk about it at this point." Barmby spoke with Brady yesterday morning upon City's return to training and, although he made his disappointment clear, City's caretaker boss appeared to be in forgiving mood. "Robbie is still learning the game but he's got the ability to become whatever he wants to become if he works hard," he added. "All the top players have devilment. I'm not saying Robbie's actions can be defended, but good players have that steel where you can look after yourself within fair play." The pursuit of Brady is among the most pressing concerns for Barmby, who again stressed his own future as City boss will not be decided until the New Year. Barmby is set to meet with head of football operations Adam Pearson and owner Assem Allam tomorrow to discuss the club's plans for January and his long-term future. But despite overseeing a fine run of five wins from seven games in charge, Barmby remains relaxed about his role. "We have said all along that in the New Year we need to sit down with the owners and Adam to really thrash out what is required and what we want," he said. "But they know that anyway. Results won't influence me massively, more the way we play and the way I feel that we are as a team and going forward as a club. "There are quite a few things but I am not going to get into them. I said there will be a decision sooner rather than later."
It's good news, Strov. Together with the lack of suspension from first team games, Brady is a lucky kid. I hope he gets the message.
I reckon NB sees a lot of himself in Robby, in terms of "devilment"!! But in all honesty I really don't see what he has done that is so terrible?!?!?! Anyway that's old ground this thread is supposed to just be about the "Official" view of him.
I thought the knee-jerk reaction from some people yesterday was just astounding. Hope Brady stays for a long time.
As you say good that NB is not one to make rash decisions, but to take measured one's, sign of a good manager.
Yeah - I reckon NB sees his value (with more development of his undoubted talent). Hence the hopes to sign him on a permanent, or at least extend his loan till the end of the season. UTT
I stand by what he did was absolutely stupid, you should never swing out at a player, no matter how wound up you are. Yes he will learn but even at his age you know right from wrong.
I don't think people were thinking that he is now 'shyte' more that he needs to be able to manage his temper more. I know that he's Irish and so has the 'red mist' that can descend, I should know my mother's Irish and I've seen it enough times! Anyway, I had no doubt that Barmby would handle this in the most appropriate fashion, that is part of what is going to make him a great manager.
The real test for Nick Barmby will be when we suffer a dip in form. If he can do whatever is necessary to get us out of it (and it happens to all sides at some stage) then that will be the final piece in the puzzle. Until that happens there will remain a doubt as to how good he will be.
not sure about all the top players having devilment. bobby charlton and gary lineker are england's two highest scorers and didnt collect even bookings the way some do.
Having read what NB has said on the matter I can't help but be quietly impressed. If he'd come out and said Brady had let him down and would never play for him again what would we all be thinking? Naughty step mark 2 I dare say. No, for me NB's maturity in dealing with RB's plain daft behaviour is spot on. He has publicly given the boy his backing, if Brady does it again he just makes himself look stupid and whatever punishment is bestowed upon him would be justified. Good, savvy management IMO.
A lot of really good players have this explosive streak, I'd rather have him with us than not as the best is yet to come from the lad
Just look at Zidane. Best player of his generation by a county mile and in 2006 was massively experienced. Nuts Materazzi in a world cup final for making some comment about his sister.Just goes to show you. Brady does need to get a grip but I think we can forgive him for what he did.
What utter rubbish has been said about Brady. So what if he gave the lad a slap ? get over it you whimps. The big problem is that the game has got far to soft. Guess the anti-Brady posters were not around during Dean Windass's heyday ? Brady is like Mary Poppins by comparrison. Glad that common sense and new FA rules have prevailed. I am sure that with both SAF & NB watching over Brady he will learn. Time to move on now. This is non story really.
The reason I posted this was not as a "Told you so" thing, more as an indication that we WILL be trying to sign him permanently, which has not been officially said before. Indeed I am a little concerned about NB coming out and stating that in public, I hope SAF doesn't regard that as disrespectful and decide not to do business with us. Lets hope the Fail doesn't make it as far as Carrington!!
indeed. does the HDF get any further than Goole ? but back to Brady. I am sure that SAF respects Nick Barmby. Listening to NB last night i think the Brady deal (either loan or transfer) has been agreed more or less and will be rubber stamped next week. IMO, Brady has suffered some shocking treatment by both the Southampton ref and the mackem ref @ ferriby on tuesday. As for the Fail, do they ever learn eh ?
Agree, hopefully he'll learn from this and we'll see a return to the player we saw in the first couple of months of the season.
