European champions Barcelona want to offer Chelsea the opportunity of a quick profit on centre-back David Luiz, The Sun reports. The Catalans are ready with a £27.5million bid, just five months after the Blues signed the Brazilian defender from Benfica for £21.3m. The 24-year-old would be interested in a move to the Camp Nou, but only with Chelsea's approval. Luiz's impressive start to life in the Premier League has not gone unnoticed by Barca. Pep Guardiola's double-winning side are very much in the market for a centre-back, with Carlos Puyol know aged 33 and suffering with yet another injury. Guardiola wants Barca's sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta to follow up on a meeting between club president Sandro Rosell and Luiz's agent Giuliano Bertolucci in Brazil to sound-out a possible move. Luiz joined Chelsea in January and looked at home alongside England captain John Terry. He played 12 league games for the club, scoring two goals.
Why would we sell 6 months later for a mere 6 million profit? He's signed a four year contract so we would be mad to sell him.
Typical Barca unsettling people via the press - they do it all the time. I dont see Luiz leaving (hope not as my 12 year old has just got his name on his shirt for next season!) as his pace and ability will be in need next season - I'd like to see him tried in centre of midfield at some point to see what he can offer there.
Barcelona have been stating they have no money Is it just a ploy to get players at knockdown prices According to the press they are signing Fabregas, Rossi, Sanchez and now Luiz 120m worth of talent but they only have 40m Silly press just trying to unsettle us as they know we have the man to conquer all
I believe the rule is only 2 countries so Luiz would not be able to unless it counts 3 a season not being aloud
