It has been a meteoric rise over the past few seasons, and who would have thought (pre-Martinez) that we would draw comparisons to Barcelona, and earn our own nickname, though self-appointed, of Swanselona. Recent statistics have proven, and we have all witnessed, that we, along with Arsenal, are one of the best passing sides in the UK. It is beyond our dreams to be mentioned in the same breath as such teams, but maybe we should be mentioned alongside another team... Real Madrid. We know and have exploited Buck's links with Chelsea, and we have reaped the rewards with Sinclair and Fabio firing us into the PL. I would like to further relationships between the two sides that sees us obtaining more talented youngsters from the Blues, but surely BR's influence on Chelsea's youth will eventually dwindle. Maybe now is the time to forge a link with BR's mentor at RM. We now have the platform as a club to offer an attractive option for youth products from Real. Our recent Spanish ties, mainly through Martinez, and success stories from the Spanish lower leagues in Rangel and Jordi, as well as notable contributions from Orlandi, Bussy, Serran and Pintado serve as a good indication of how well Spanish players have settled in Swansea. Although not all have been major success stories, it can't be denied that they have enjoyed playing for the club. With the RM second team still playing in Segunda B, the equivalent of League 1, surely loaning good youth prospects to a PL team is a good option. Mourinho obviously trusted BR with his youth so this could be the perfect match. If we could find a young technically gifted striker a la Fabio, surely it's a win win. I don't know what the likelihood of any such link is, but surely worth an enquiry Brendan. Just a thought.
Was nice to see " The Special One " offer his goodluck to Rodgers prior to the final at Wembley & the likelihood of a link is probably a lot more real than we might think . Rogers makes Mourinho look good & Mourinho does like to look good Lol !!
They might want to come to play against Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Spurs etc. On the other hand they just might "develop" a groin strain when the likes of Stoke City are next up...........
