One of the best keepers in the world in the 1966 World cup has passed away aged 81. I actually met the great man in 1976 when my ship Ark Royal docked in Fort lauderdale where he was living at the time.....His save against Pele was deemed the greatest save ever at the time.....RIP Gordon <rose>

This wasn’t a bad save either - against his England World Cup winning teammate, Geoff Hurst

    RIP <rose>

Agreed Dai the save in Guadalajara was unbelievable - I merely wanted to demonstrate that Banks also made other unforgettable saves!

No wonder he was called ‘Banks of England’! <cheers>
